I am the opposite of most on this site. Sport automatic mode. As a fellow member and track instructor has told me, the automatic mode out thinks and out performs his manual shifting both on the track and the streets. He now always uses automatic mode also.

Engine cold in Traction mode because the shifts are fast and engine warm up faster, once engine warm I move to sport+. Always manual mode unless in extreme stop and go traffic or on the phone.

The automatic mode is a little too aggressive for me on the streets at times. I've gotten more familiar with it now, and just back off. It does seem like it would be great on the track. I drive in manual-mode and sport most of the time, but do drive in auto-mode some also. It mainly depends on the traffic. Heavy traffic or when someone is driving really slow in front of me takes the fun out of manual mode, so I just throw it back in drive mode an relax. Last edited by qnet; 06-02-2018 at 11:33 AM.. |

When I start driving I wait about 10 seconds then switch it to sport lol. I usually drive in sport and use the paddles to up shift a couple gears when i've accelerated because the tranny stays in high rpms after an aggressive acceleration.

For autocross it's a no-brainer: Manual only. On the streets, the automatic can't look ahead for things like hills, turns, or gaps in traffic. It's going to be reactive, where I can be proactive. DSC off, BTW, unless it's really cold or wet. |
