Should be in the drive settings under locking, look in the manual

You are using another key if it didn't beep
Car works on a profile system all the settings you set, have to be set for the other key if you plan on using it.
Otherwise it's like having 2 different cars.
I recommend settings both keys to the same profile to prevent confusion.
Let me know if you need help with that.

I just have the car coded so the mirrors fold when locked. Then I know it's locked just by looking at it.

Yeah, that's one of the first things I did when I got my '18 M2.... (I believe akkando meant to say his mirrors fold, not his windows. If it is his windows which fold, I'd love to see that!)

Can't understand why BMW wouldn't deliver them that way... I have a 2008 Lexus LS460, and it has that feature! If Lexus can deliver cars back in 08 with the side mirrors folding automatically when the car is turned off, and expanding when the car is started, why can't BMW???

As the previous poster said, it makes it easy to know instantly if your car is locked or unlocked!

I figure they don't have them fold automatically because it's just additional wear on those motors, and maybe they aren't designed with a service life to handle that much usage.

I have mine setup (via esys/coding) so if I hold lock long enough, they fold, but otherwise don't.

I rarely fold my mirrors. Total waste. In fact, rarely even in 35 years of parking cars.

I love it because people are fucking animals and bump into mirrors and #2 I always know if locked or not by looking at it.

My parking lot at work basically requires it... we don't have enough spaces for the number of employees. (I thought this was illegal, but apparently not enough to prevent my company from doing it.)

So the lot gets *really* tight, and some of my coworkers drive shitbox cars that they don't care about. Folding them helps give a bit more space at least... but I only do it when the lot is really bad.
