Help with decision
Hi guys I have a dilemma
Have the option to get a brand new M2 by the month of May this year with my spec However I have just been offered a car brand new also cancelled order that would be here this march which avoids the new car tax rates that kick in in April . The tax will go up 50% for the M2 from April registration cars onwards for the first 5 years of the cars life The only difference in going for the earlier car is that the spec is only Harmon kardon stereo no other options . I like the colour grey and wanted manual so that is fine but not sure whether it will be too spartan without any other options What do you guys think ? Wait till late may and pay more road tax for the spec I would choose or go for the earlier car ? |

IMHO Always get the car you want. Every time I've settled, I regret it for the duration of ownership. You will have the car for a while and while you might forget the extra tax, you won't forget that you didn't get the options you really wanted.

If you are flip flopping on the decision I'm guessing you should get what you want if cash is not a concern. |

Just as the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act scared the world into a Great Depression (was not actually passed until after the Crash), the current tax hike scares are making people make strange decisions! Get the car you want, ordered as you like it, don't sweat the new "tax."

Wait, get the car you specced !
Easy I know, however driving in something that isn't specced to your requirement may be a compromise too far which in turn may take away some of your driving enjoyment, for example I wouldn't have a car without heated seats and not to have them would absolutely kill it for me so think carefully about an impulse decision. |

What specs were you wanting that are not on this car?

I agree you should get the car with the specs you want, especially since it appears you have a long list that the already built car would not have. I would not think it is worth it to save a few hundred a year on a car that costs 50k+ to not have the options you want.

Assuming you are keeping the car for the full five years you are spending roughly an additional £1500. That's about £25 per month for 60 months. In the grand scheme of things you should be able to make it so wait and get exactly what you want.

I am a firm believer in the saying:
"The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten."
