17mm bolts?

Hi all
the M2 is my first ever BMW, so pardon my questions.
I took delivery just a couple weeks ago and the dealer had mounted the winter tire package I had ordered from TireRack.

I'm used to doing this myself on my other cars and so I have not yet had to deal with the tools I will need to switch to the summer tires in a couple months.

Can someone help me understand what I need?
I saw Keith's "useful tools" sticky post at the top but I don't know what size socket I need for our cars. I searched the forum and think I saw 17mm but could someone confirm please?

Also, my other question is around the car jack. I saw somewhere that special inserts are needed for the bottom of car at the jack points for a jack to successfully lift the car, is that correct?

Any input on favorite tools and techniques for changing your own tires on a BMW are welcome! Thanks.

17mm and get a 5 sided socket not one of the 17mm 12 sided "fits all" sockets - they round the edges.

I assume that is a typo and you mean 6 sided?

17mm for pretty much all BMW/MINI or AG car I've ever worked on. Tighten to 140NM or 101 lb-ft.

Some examples:

I bought the jack pad from them but they were out of stock on the socket. Been using my normal socket from my toolbox for this.

Awesome. Thanks for the input. Will buy/look for those jack pads and protective sockets.
