I received more thumbs up when driving my M2 then I ever received with my Z4M... The M2 is obviously a lot louder then my Z4M, so that is maybe part of the reason people notice it a bit more and at this time it's also a bit rare and exclusive to see on Belgium roads. I have met other M2 owners and most of them are really friendly and true petrolhead who bought the car for the way it drives and handles and not for the image....it's a different audience then the typical M4 buyer (personal opinion).

Had my AW M2 for two months.

At team building event, whole team wanted to sit in the car and hear me rev it up.
Black M4 decided he had to show me who's boss and blasted me WOT after making a turn.
Porsche driver asked me a few questions in the Costco parking lot.
Mini driver honked and waved as he went by the other way.
Several conversations with people at the BMW dealership.
Overtaken by another AW M2 as I was getting onto the 101 freeway. Thumbs up were exchanged.

At a stop light someone honked.. rolled down my window to a surprise " nice M2 man!" I was in shock this was the first time in the year I had the car that someone specifically knew it was an M2. Of course asked me to rev it and I got excited and did so :

On the drive back from PCD I got a random thumbs up. But since then I haven't noticed anyone noticing me. Which is how I like it..hence the MG.

I don't own an M2 yet, just went for a test drive and 1 min later there was a 1 series driver that wanted to check how the M2 pulls (I ignored him I was still playing with the car settings). XD Attention came way faster than I thought.

Even here in Southern California people notice and or ask me about the car.
Most people have never seen one before.

My Ceramic Installer said this was his 3rd M2 he's done though..

Q:
What are you driving for the next two years till the "other M2" comes to market.

Seems to me you bite off your nose to spite your face for a long time.

Good thing about learning to drive stick in the M2 is the car can't stall! It auto revs up on 1st gear by simply releasing the clutch!

Ordered mine in early October, getting my hands on it tomorrow or the day after
Since then the only one I saw was at at the dealer and the one that I test drive. During these 6 months I've never seen a single one on the road, and I'm not living out in the country.

Cars are only Dude magnets. While there is the rare female enthusiast, most of the attention I get are from young guys. When I had an '09 E92 DCT, I had a State Trooper encourage me to race him on a local highway. Being an idiot, I did. 😁
