One of the first modifications I made was installing the Awron multifunction gauge. This thing gives you so much info that you'll get a headache. 8 different information displays. Looks factory. Matches night illumination perfectly. Must do mod. Not missing the replaced vent.

Looks so ugly though, isn't there a better way to have all this info without ruining the main center console and having one less AC vent? Btw how come you don't have the silver surrounding trim around the AC vents?

That is a beautiful and functional solution. I searched and found a price for it of over $1,000., is that true? Another solution is to use an old Android phone and run TorquePro on it for a fraction of the cost. When the ashtray is removed, there is a perfect spot to install a phone. Mine is installed with just a friction fit and it doesn't move. It doesn't look like it in the photo but the color of the TP gauges is very close to the OEM color.

BMW only has power and torque dials on offer in the iDrive settings.

He bought the non-LCI one.

As an alternative you could get a JB4 tune and this JB4 app for reading oil temps and more.

Do you notice that it's hotter for you as the driver? Aka without the vent?

I remember seeing this for the 235 and always wondered that...

That's pretty neat! Looks clean too. I'd totally do this if my OCD didn't completely drive me bonkers due to the unbalanced AC vents and the redundant vent control.

No. Increased flow at the adjacent vents.

What's the correlation like between the OEM temperature gauge and this oil gauge?

The M235i water temperature reading usually leads the oil temperature reading by about 10-Celsius*. So while people are pretty up-tight about water temperature gauges (usually for good reason), if the water is reading 112C while the oil is only at 102C it's close enough for knowing when the car is up to temperature.

If the temperature gauge on the M2 is based on the same sensors as the M235i it's fine and you don't need to bother with a dedicated oil temperature gauge.

* This would be the oil & water temperature measurements shown on the black panel display and obtained through inputting a combination of the VIN in to the trip computer.

Someone needs to add this feature to the idrive LCD screen. This would be awesome. No need to have an additional screen when there is a big LCD screen already integrated with the car. Really wish someone would hack the idrive system already and add the Awron gauges to it.

No kidding! I think the setup looks nice, though I'd probably miss the vent because I live in the Southeastern US and holy crap it's hot and humid here. The droid phone solution is pretty sweet, but I've gotta agree with the above-- would make a LOT of sense to put it on the Nav screen. I'm sure that's in the works. By someone. Somewhere.

This is possible with the oem control display. Youll need bimmertech's multimedia interface, a bluetooth dongle, and you can mirror gauges from your phone onto the main control display. Its a little roundabout.. The awron gauges are def easier to just install and forget about.

Alternatively, theres some nice analog gauge cluster pods that sit below the hvac-- available for the f20 and look good without obstructing vents. Just as expensive with Stack gauges though and awron still gives more functionality

Maybe this is the better option if you don't want to live without the vent in the middle:

http://www.p3cars.com/shop/bmw/bmw-1...p3-vent-gauge/

Much smaller and displays accuracte info on oil temperature etc.

Normally, oil temp sits at 115-125degC and coolant temp sits at 85-95degC

From my thermo dynamics theory [Brighton Poly 30+ years ago] IIRC, if you coolant temp is > your lubricant temp then your coolant is effectively redundant whilist your lubricant medium is acting as coolant - not good !

Lubricant should not be multitasking as in oiling and cooling duties - oil has an optimum temp range for it to work effectively and this needs to be maintained else probability of your engine going 'pop' is higher.

It is really unfortunate that BMW didn't take advantage of the huge iPad sticking out of the dash and offer all of the data that these aftermarket devices do. I would think they could do that for essentially nothing since this is stuff available through OBD. I wonder if this data can be had through the M performance OBD deal they are offering? If so I will probably just use my iPhone and put it on a mount when I do track days. On a day to day basis I don't need oil temps etc.

Great! Did you use the m235i version?
If so, does it run properly?

Awron told me that they are not sure if it would work in the m2 and I have a display from my 235i which I would like to use again.

That looks brilliant, love the screen, love the location in vent and great amount of info,
this will be my first mod , Im ordering the apron with the exhaust valve control option for an extra couple hundred it could save me a few thousand on an exhaust. Hopefully having the valves open on the stock exhaust will delay my need for the MPE or akrapovic
great mod. Im actually hoping I can have my awron on the passengers side vent
