This looks promising, but loss of warranty when something goes wrong is an issue (as opposed to their more expensive stage 1 - $1544).

Can someone confirm the warranty on this? I know Dinan states 1yr but my concern is the OEM ECU registering in some log the increased boost.
I am expecting my Fabspeed Sport Cat DP to come in soon and I saw the other thread about this Dinan add on combined with the DP yielding a considerable bump in feel but it had no dyno results. This thread has dyno results but no DP. We need someone with DP and Dinan add on showing dyno runs!

Why is Fabspeed claiming 30hp gain for the dp when they claim (and show) 16whp on the dyno graph on their website?

Looks like 5500 rpm to me, but it's still just one data point where there's a little dip in the stock plot as the power trails off. Peak power is clearly listed at 16.16whp gain.
That explains where the 30hp figure comes from - and I know area under the curve is the important thing to look at, but it looks to my old eyes that the average gain is more like 20hp. Still not bad and making it a tough choice for me personally whether I want to take the warranty risk. |

OP, thanks for sharing your Dyno graphs, which I have attached below.
The way I look at them: Dinan Sport Tuner: Max WHP: 367@5500 Max WTQ: 408@2800 Stock: Max WHP: 349@5750 Max WTQ: 367@2300 In this sense, the gain in maximum horsepower is 18WHP. To be precise, 6400rpm is where gain peaks at 29WHP, but it does not mean the tune is making 29WHP peak power than stock. That being said, there are indeed significant gains in power "under the curve" where it really matters for you to enjoy. 30WHP gains up top can't be had without 2~3psi boost there. Glad to know our turbo is capable of flowing that much more at top end. If you have data log, check out how IAT is climbing and if timing is pulling there. Anyway be cautious when climate gets warm though.

Does the Dinan sport tuner have to be disconnected/removed for dealer visits?
or can you just set it to stock ala JB4 map 0? my concern is voiding warranty/interference with dealership diagnostic equipment also does the stage 1 tuner make the same power and have the option of switching maps via bluetooth? really not sure which one to buy here... |

I realize all dynos are different but, I'm impressed with my stock numbers. 2 factors may contribute to this... 1) I have COI and exhaust which, when combined, claim 14 bhp. 2) I ran the car very hard during 1200 mile break-in.

Do you know if the OEM ECU registers (any logs) of any increase in boost?

That's why I ask.
I had a really extensive talk with my CA on this topic (modifications) and basically he ended up summarizing saying the car is mine and I can do whatever I want to it. They will take every warranty request on a case by case basis and he just recommends no tuning cause it alleviates the process of a warranty claim. He did talk about a case they had where the car was loaded with parts and tuning and it was proven that, although modified and tracked heavily, the failure was not for a strain on parts modified and warranty was honored. He basically stated and I quote: "The computers on these cars log everything, we can find out if the car has been tuned or not since everything is logged into it" I just haven't been able to confirm that with anyone other than the CA. It's the reason I have desisted of looking into tuning at the moment. Eventually warranty runs out and that's another story..

you'd think because it's dinan that they would back the product, but they 100% do not lol. maybe because it actually adds power unlike their stage 1 tuner: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1343899 |

Honestly, the car does feel quicker. Does is feel 36hp quicker? Hard to say, but I say it feels more like 16hp quicker In all seriousness, it seems a bit quicker and responsive. The SOUND (in combo with the muffle bypass), is what really gets you.. I apologize for the very unscientific response. -c

Debating if i should do no cat + stock exhaust or sport cat + muff delete Obv leaning towards the no cat option for the noise and price point. just turned off by the idea of a CEL i have to fix then again i don't feel like hacking my stock exhaust apart either. ugh.
