yeah.. cuz that will never happen with a Porsche..
Lol. Ehhh not saying it won't but I was on the fence with the 911 vs M2 to begin with. I realize they're not comparable but regardless those were my two choices. The 911 is a classic that I've always loved.

This is pretty much my thinking. I'm glad the CS is coming out because I'm sure it'll be cool, but I couldn't afford it and I'm thrilled with my "base" M2. Don't need more power, it's a great DD, and I'm going to drive the hell out of it.

That said, I'm definitely relieved that there's not a new engine going in the base model. As much as I love my car as it is, I'd be annoyed at a quick change like that just on principle.

Your car won't change. It will still be the same car. Either you enjoy driving it or you don't. Seems like you're more concerned with high status.
Yes I'm so concerned with status that I bought the cheapest possible M car that half the forum claims is a fake M car. Or maybe I think BMW could've improved on some things with the current M2 and if a new and improved M2 gets those things then it will annoy me.

If money is not a problem just buy a 911 and be happy. Poor little rich girl.

Price point is everything imo. current M2 is in a very sweet spot. lot of car for 55k with simple manual gearbox. nothing can touch it based on look & performance for this price. maybe its own brother M240i. for anything more than what it is now i rather get the bigger M3/4.

Try to imagine how some Porsche Cayman GTS owners may have felt about the introduction of the Cayman GT4 less than a year after the introduction of the Cayman GTS:

Can you confirm model year by chance? Sounds like from your other posts that 2018 is a mild refresh for the base M2 but does that mean the CS is a 2019 or could it come out as a 2018 because of the standalone factor?

I think it makes the most sense to see a final base M2 in MY2018 and in MY2019, the CS follows.

If the M2 CS gets the S55, wouldnt the base M2 as well?

The M4 GTS has the same engine as the M4? The M3 CSL had the same engine as the M3?

If the base M2 gets the S55(which im guessing very likely) it will crater the resale of the current M2. If you worry about that kind of thing

Just got on the list for a CS. #4. Ya, already 3 others in front.

I'm also on a list for the LCI. Got a very cool SA.

No deposit required for either.

It was just hilarious seeing your comment.. look at all the Porsche Boxster/Cayman editions.. anniversary .. black edition.... R... GTS.. GT+4 ... they started the game... BMW just aspires to it..

indeed.. you've been lukewarm about your M2 ever since you got it.. .. quick sell it fast before it's worth pennies on the dollar... then check out 911 depreciation..

This is good news no matter how I look at it. Yes, I'm close to an M2 allocation and yes, I would consider the M2 CS (if I get on a list fast enough).

However, I love how BMW is riding the M2s popularity, and is determined to focus on more drivers cars.

Not too long ago I was considering Audis and Mercs....no more. BMW has held my interest of late.

Nothing beyond CS at this moment.

I am not pissed. I am sure there are market and room for both. And I am certain my manual M2 will be easy to sell when that day comes. Because if a more high spec M2 is coming - we can be sure that the price tag also will be "upgraded". And not by pocket change, mark my words.

Lmao. I'm well aware but a lot of those editions are priced well out of my range so I can't exactly pine over a 911R for instance.

Anyway, I would get a year old CPO 911. Let someone else take the depreciation hit. Since I'm already taking it on the M2, I might just gift it to my dad in a year or two. He wouldn't spend that kind of money on himself and it's perfect for him.

I grew up very close to Caterham where Caterham Cars were made in the 80's and 90's.... used to see them testing on the country roads around there. Quick cars especially the 7.
