Quick question, how long does it normally take to drain & refill the rear diff oil?

Not sure about just the diff oil portion, but my whole service was very quick. Probably 1.5hours from start to finish for the engine and differential oil change...no car wash

Is this considered a warranty item or a maintenance item for 2017s? That is, is there a charge for MY17?

Is there any BMW documentation that states the rear diff fluid is changed? My Owner's Manual only states...At 1,200 miles..."Have drive-in check up maintenance performed" on page 162.

I did not have a rev limit prior to my 1,200 mile service. The only computer related line item on my receipt is..."Perform Scope per CBS DATA"...re: reset Condition Based Service (CBS) indicators.

NADA about rev limits or launch control.

Just had my 1200 mile break-in service this week on my MY2017. Covered in full as maintenance item. MY2017 BMWs have service covered for 3 years/36,000 miles, but the new service program for MY2017 excludes brakes, rotors, and wiper blades.

Do you have maintenance included in some plan of some sort?

All performance is unlocked automatically at 1200mi. Dealer does nothing. Dealer even told me to ensure I was not in the middle of a high power turn right at 1200mi, because of the sudden increase in power available! In other words, it comes on while driving, not at next startup!

My CA told me that the M3/M4 in the past had limited power which was "released" by the dealer after being serviced for break in.

Was told that this is not the case with the M2, it has all power on tap from the get go.

Never heard about the power being released automatically.

Hmmm thats weird, I did not buy any additional maintenance other than what BMW provides as part of the MY2017 cars which is the 3 years maintenance (used to be 4 years with MY2016 cars I believe). I didn't get charged for anything on the 1200 break in service and it also included the differential fluid replacement.

I'm at the dealer now for the 1,200 miles service. Asked what gets completed and he said changes of the oil and rear differential fluid. I asked about removing the rev limiter and enabling launch control, neither of which he was aware of. He claimed "The M2 is so new blah blah blah." Guess I'll wait and see. I will say that I haven't floored the car and bc of that, oddly enough, the max rev reached prior to changing gears was about 5500. Not sure if this was just coincidence.

It's funny how some people here at the forum are more knowledgeable about the 1,200 service than some of the people working at the dealership!
