Don't use one with spraying the WD-40 from the back side. If you do, you will twist the spring clips and damage them inside the tip.

Like I did

Can you elaborate on what NOT to do?
Thanks

Don't use the band clamp and twist the tip. That twisting of the clips inside will break the tip. I'll post a picture when I get home today.

This is what happens if you don't use WD-40 on the tips and only use the band wrench.

There are cheaper alternatives including powder coating etc however the quality is quite good for these imo. Can't comment on how they will hold up over time however...
What size are those Cyba tips? 90mm?

Will these fit on the Mperformance exhaust? Would be an interesting solution to the $800-1200 factory tip problem.

Easy, bro. I used strap wrench on 4 of mine, 2 other BMWs and 993 Porsche
and never used a drop of lubricant or had ANY damage. Looking at those pics looks like major sustained torque was applied. Once you break them loose with a a1/4 inch turn use one hand to pull and the wrench hand to keep slight torque on the tip and they slip off. I'm sure WD-40 wouldn't hurt but I've never used it.

YMMV

Two of my tips would not come off. I had to torque them off.

Hi Glounk,
I was hoping to get you feedback on the tip install.
I just installed my M4 tips. The retaining clips look like they are for slant internal tips as the clips are offset. The top clip is further toward the top of the tip and the bottom clip is 1" deeper. Looking at the pic, it looks like you pushed the slip on tip all the way to the top clip.
Did you just push in the bottom clip (can't see the bottom retaining clip in the pic) to clear the internal tip? Did this torque the tip upwards? It looks straight to me.
Did it damage the bottom clip or make it difficult to take the slip on tip off? If I only push the slip on to the bottom clip, they stick out further than I'd like and they don't lock in enough.

Thanks in advance.

Resolved... sorry, sometimes you pause in caution.

I was able to wiggle (side to side) past the bottom pronged clips and the tips pushed all the way to the bottom lip are on straight. Now the tips set back further like in your pics and will not easily slip off like before.

Thanks for the pics. That helped.

I got mine from bmwpartspros @ $50 each.

Tip Removal:
One more thing that I learned... with all this back and fourth about the tip removal. I had mine installed and the installer used a crescent wrench, adjusted it so that the size didn't hit the exhaust (just the slip on), put the crescent wrench behind the tip and tapped away. Being on a lift made it easy for access but I thought I'd share the tool used and his method. By far the best method I heard with my research and seeing it in person.
