I don't think it will get the LCD gauges, since the M4 LCI didn't. I'm interested in the ZCP, but I thought that any M2 build can be a competition, as it is an option package and not a separate model. The dealers are playing the hype card well.

How come? M4 LCI did get it with optional Executive Package (Artemis posted the photos):

Multifunctional Instrument Display.
Now available with the Executive Package, BMW offers the Multifunctional Instrument Display as an option for the BMW 4 Series, which gives the driver the choice of different display options depending on the driving experience mode selected.

COMFORT mode brings a more classic display layout inspired by the traditional analogue instrument cluster. The standard displays show speed, engine revs, a fuel gauge, engine oil temperature, the current fuel consumption and the gear selected.

If the super-efficient ECO PRO mode has been selected, the BMW EfficientDynamics technologies become the center of attention. The driver is notified of additional range and brake energy regeneration performance which aids the driver’s economical driving style.

When SPORT mode is engaged using the Driving Dynamics Control switch, the Multifunctional Instrument Display focuses on performance-related readouts, such as vehicle speed, engine revs or the engine’s current output.
And I have to say, from all of the digital cluster implementations, BMWs looks pretty good.

From my understanding it is for the regular 4-series and not the M4. Same thing for 6-series/M6. The M models have analog gauges (which I prefer).

I was simply pointing out (in response to your post)
1. That is where people are getting the idea of the M2 CS/Competition - there are in fact production plans
2. That it won't be produced until 2018 (2019 MY) and not this year

Totally agree that BMW marketing may do wonders with the name.

I don't see how we can say "M2 CS/Competition" either.

There are interested buyers on this forum who have been counting on an "M2 CS" and have been on dealer's waiting lists for that product for almost a year now. That doesn't mean they are also on those dealer's "M2 Competition" waiting lists or vice versa.

Well if I'm not on that list I will not be happy

And for everyone else, here are the comments from vnguldyn he/she has been right way more than wrong

Actually, I know that the last couple of months y'all have been waiting for something else. Well, your prayers have finally been answered: I can confirm that M2 CS will differ from the regular M2 in exactly the way you wanted. Though it'll be slightly detuned compared to M3/M4, to 400hp. M2 CS is MY2019, coming in calendar year 2018.

December 2016......
* Did I say "M2 CS" in my previous update? I meant "M2 Competition," of course. Sorry.
About the S55-equipped M2: it's actually unclear, what it'll get as the official name. There are "M2 CS", "M2 Cs", and "M2 Competition" mentioned. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. But even if it's the latter, it won't be the equivalent of M2 with ZCP: remember, it's a totally different engine, not an ECU reflash like ZCP does. And yes, in the US it will be MY2019.

Recent render to imagine the idea of a digital dash.

Had the digital dash in my 6-series and hated it. They can hold off putting this gimmick in my next BMW forever and I will be happy

Should I wait?
Mine just arrived at the dealer .... if you can get one now GET IT! No regrets here!!!

I have it in my F11 M550d as well. It's ok I guess but I can have it or lose it. I just don't care.

Not sure how digital dash talk made its way here, I like the idea of BMW doing more digital display personally as long as its configurable. A nice large digital speed display would be nice since you can get it in just about any Chevy or Ford but on our BMW's its tiny and goes away if you use navigation. Two traditional gauges (speedo and tach) with a center display that is configurable with various temps and digital speedo would be nice.

I'd wait if you can. I'm gonna wait for the last year build and see where the M2 ends up...in the meantime gonna enjoy the hell out of the e92.

I can see how a digital dash can be made to look good if done right. It really can't have any shortcomings compared to the traditional analog gauges however. Has to be reliable, accurate, easy on the eyes and have a very fast refresh time. I'm thinking Audi is ahead with their virtual thingy at the moment and BMW is playing ketchup.

I have to think that if you're hoping bmw will inject even more electronics into the car that you might be missing part of what makes the m2 great. The less they add, the better. Personally I hope it doesn't see too many changes.

As far as competition goes all the rumors point to the CS. I suspect it will be significantly more expensive and less usable for daily driving. So if that is what you want and you want to pay more than a base M4 I'd wait. If not I'd pull the trigger. Personally I'm waiting for an LCI as we are now in the last 8 weeks or so of 17 production.

Not just a ZCP option

Actually, the M2 Competition appears to be a separate model like the M4 CS from last year sold in Spain and not the Competition Package we have seen in the past. ynguldyn posted that an M2 Competition will not be just a ZCP as it is expected to have an S55 motor. Have not seen rumors of a ZCP offering.

I've seen rumors on 2er German forum.
On the other hand. Insiders there put it like this:
07/17 M2 LCI - N55
03/18 M2 CS - B58 ~410 hp, order from 01/18
03/19 M2 GTS - S55 450 hp limited to 999 cars

As for LCI dealers there are already asking if ppl want pre or post LCI orders (May or July onwards)
