A thread for former VW TDI owners who are switching to BMW

Curious if anyone else that is returning their VW diesel is going to BMW. I'll miss the MPG of my 6MT Passat but looking forward to the new 340i when it gets here. For me I wanted a 4 door, manual trans sporty car. Options were limited and decided to treat myself this time around.

Yup, I just turned in my 2014 Sportwagen on the Dieselgate buybacks. Fuel mileage in my N55 X3 is about half what it was in the TDI, but it sure pulls harder.

I've had BMWs since 2001,

Have a 2003 E39 M5, and bought a 2014 Jetta TDI as my daily
I was literally getting 55-60 MPG driving to Dallas/Houston and back
Was always wondering how, since it was only rated for like 42

Either way, dumped it cuz I didn't want major surgery to it .. mine didn't have the adblue thing, didn't want them to add it

Dumped it at Carmax for a 135is ... which now sits next to the M5

Probably should get another daily driver ...
While I was impressed with quite a few things on the VW, it aint no BMW
Biggest diff for me was the Seats, I could never get comfortable in the Jetta
Aching back if I was in it more than 1/2 hour
BMW Sports seats, they don't get any better

That and the Large Performance Jump ... BMW is quite an Upgrade
Night and Day diff if you ask me

We turned our TDI and we wanted a 3 series wagon or 3 series GT buy there didn't to be any incentives on them in January so they seemed to be overpriced as paying 50k for the 3 series wagon wiping vinyl seats appeared to be excessive to me. Ended up getting an Alltrack SE with 3k off and our buyback money only ended up costing us 13k. Haven't been disappointed.

They are night and day different cars. Just drive the bmw you want and figure out if you want to pay to play.
