No. We are saying a CLEAR precedent has been established when it comes to this car, and it certainly doesn't make sense to go off making an assumption that it will be widely available just because word on the street is that it will be " not limited "

Despite whatever the word on the street has been ( this one will have a CF roof, this one will have a bespoke motor, this one will have x, y, or Z item, because there has been more time to bring it to market, etc. However, Not a lot about this car has been different from the rollout of the 1M, most importantly, the plant in which it is being produced. BMW AG and most importantly BMW NA clearly prefer to sell 3-4 series vs 2 series which also means that M3/M4 Sales are preferred over M2.

M4 exo sounds even louder with windows down

Yeah, it looks so much better than the 1M, in my opinion.

the 1M is not its competition...the 1M is its father....it's more badass, balls to the wall father. The M2 had a lot to live up for...but for the time being we just call it 'junior'

I see the analogy and it's a good one... Gramps is getting old in the teeth and junior is coming along to show him the ropes and step up the game

Kind of like when the old veteran quarterback is ready to retire (and maybe held on for a year too long) and the new #1 draft pick comes along and has way more skill and athletic ability and takes the team to the next level. Gramps might be badass and balls to the wall but slower, not as powerful and clearly last gen

99% sure M2 is next up for me. Love my f30 but I miss the driving feel of my 135i. This looks like a really sweet balance.

The 1 Series M Coupe being the M2's older brother is awesome in all respects, but you need to calm down.

Get ready for something even more special.

I think that's a stupid response. Implying people are getting a m2 because they can't afford the m3/4. That's the furthest from the truth. I can get an m3 but I prefer the m2 size. I promise you that I'm not the only one.

I mean, let's be honest... the 1M is not that special either. It's a 1 series with an N engine, E92 M3 suspension, diff, and some chassis parts just like the M2. except less well tuned as admitted to by M engineers themselves in recent interviews.

In fact I believe this is what Randy Pobst said about the 1M:
“The 1M is an improvement on the 135, which I’ve spent some time in, but NOT my favorite car. In fact, I hate this car. It won’t turn. The thing I didn’t like about the 135 was its mid-corner understeer, its reluctance to turn once it was in the corner, and the 1M still does that. And it’s the primary thing I remember after driving the car. That it is very lazy on turn-in.”

The M235i fixed this understeer from the 1 series so the M2 should have much better turn-in than the 1M.

I'm not saying it's a bad car - it's very good - but let's be real. The 1M is in fact very much like the Z4M, an M car that was very raw and fun, produced in low quantities, but not with the most balanced handling characteristics.

Don't care for orange, myself, but I'd really like to see an M2 in red.
