Delays at Bremerhaven?

My 2017 MG M2 build completed on 16 December and arrived in Bremerhaven Port on 21 December. As of 4PM CST on 9 Jan there has been no change. I have called the BMW genius # about every 3 days after 10 days passed and keep hearing it still is in the port and not scheduled for a voyage to Galveston Texas yet. Is anyone else waiting on a boat for Galveston with similar build completion and port arrival dates? I'm starting to wonder if anything has been overlooked, as BMW says it usually takes 7-14 days from port arrival to being placed on a boat or if there is just a backlog after all the Holidays.

Are you a week 50 also? If so the Tulane hit Baltimore last Friday. It just left Savanna and should be coming around the Panama Canal soon. I was given an ETA of 1/22 for arrival in So Cal. Hope that helps!

I was supposed to be a week 1 build, but finished production early on Dec 17th. I'm still sitting at port as well. I'm going to call genius later this week for an update. My dealer won't schedule me for performance center delivery until I'm officially on a boat.

My production finished 1/2 and I'm sitting in port. My PCD date isn't until 3/3 though so I'll be waiting regardless.

In talking to BMW Genius, they said port usually takes 2 weeks. Maybe the holidays meant less ships?

Edit: PCD from the dealer is really just filling out paperwork - not sure why they won't do it until it's shipped. That seems unnecessary and you may end up waiting longer than you have to. My dealer worked with PCD to set a date. You can request dates but PCD will ultimately decide if it's too soon.

Take a look at the shipping schedule at http://www.2wglobal.com , and you can probably predict what ship your car will get on and when it will arrive in Galveston. It is my understanding that the Galveston port gets less frequent ships than Baltimore and California. It may be simply that they are waiting to get enough cars to fill their section of the ship. I was able to predict my cars shipping to California using the schedule website. Hope this helps. It will be worth the wait.

According to W2's schedule they had a boat leave Bremerhaven today that gets to Galveston on 3 February. Hoping my car is on that one!! Talking to the Genius line they said the status won't change and they don't know what boat it is on until after it departs the port. I will be irked if it didn't make it on that boat, but just have to keep waiting. Thanks for the help.

Plug your VIN into WW's tracking tool and it will tell you which boat it's on.

I've been trying; apparently it won't populate in the system until about two days after it departs the port. Thanks for the link though!

When tracking my car I found that getting correct information was a crap shoot. I called one day and got someone that said my car wouldn't leave port for a couple of weeks. I plugged my VIN into the sites mentioned here and could not find it. Then called a day later and was told it had already left. They gave me a ship name which wasn't on any of schedules mentioned in these forums, but that I was able to find on the ship tracking site.

The boat my car was on went to Nova Scotia first, then to Galveston so it was a fast trip to the US.

I guess sometimes your car just ends up on a path that is harder to track.

Tracking on My BMW website now says En Route to USA!!! I'll probably call Genius later today or tomorrow to see if I can find out what ship it is on. I also sent an email to the performance center about scheduling and they wrote back to me and cc'd my dealer that I should be scheduling it ASAP and the dealer needs to fill out the form. Still haven't heard from my dealer. I'll reach out to him again later this week. I hate bugging him, but it's something I want to do and I also need to schedule time out of work, which I try to do 4-6 weeks in advance.

How much time does it usually take in transit to Galveston?

This is what I got from BMW port in Germany for delays to west coast customers:

Due to the plant closures over the holidays the shipments were postponed until there were enough units at the Port of Bremerhaven to resume. The next ship to load will be the Theben on 1/18 with an eta to Port Hueneme of 2/14.

After delays getting into Barcelona the Michigan Highway made it into Galveston this evening, two days behind schedule. I'm beyond antsy to get this beast to my dealership!! Hopefully within a week now!
