I used to like the frameless doors until I had my first winter storm and all the ice kept it from opening all the way which sketches me out! I've since got over the issue but it definitely was a little scary the first time.

I am 100% sure that it is more expensive to build frameless. I don't see an issue with it. Anyone of us can go through a pick out little things that we (amateur engineers and designers) would do but you buy the car they make or you simply don't and look for a car with framed windows I guess. |

Nah, don't get me wrong, it's not going to stop me taking delivery. Just figured I'd see what everyone else's opinions are. And I think it's funny when people find threads pointless. Aren't all threads pointless to someone and entertaining or useful to others? Get over it. Welcome to the internet.

Personally, I love the look of frameless windows. I do think I'll tire of the fingerprints on the windows left by myself and others when closing the doors though. Guess I'll just have to keep some Windex in the car at all times.

Did you know that your car is powered by little explosions that push pistons? One shudders to think at the damage each detonation is causing. Best to buy something electric, I think. |

I keep in the car 2 micro fibre towels, 1 microfibre waffle and 2 spray bottles, one with water, the other with a very, very dilute mixture of water, Geyon bathe+ and spray wax. Should take care of everything from finger prints to random bird poos.

Every single BMW I've owned has had frameless windows. At times, I've literally sat there for ten minutes, melting, pulling and praying for the windows to finally pry open in the winter.

Frameless is great, special and part of coupe life. Especially in a BMW.
Is this thread real? No wonder I rarely pop on Bimmerpost these days. What next. BMW logo is round rant! Not really flaming the OP, just a lack of real news at times brings up.....well this...!

Picked up a 318is in Munich in March '96 with frameless windows and in over 20 years of owning it, I've not had a single problem with the windows. Very few problems with the rest of the car for that matter,

Well you can lock/unlock the car, toot the horn and flash the lights w/the iPhone and BMW NA Connected app. Unfortunately, you won't be able to lock the keys in the car. So you still have to take the key fob. The aesthetics of the ugly Ford keypad is enough to make me not mind a key. |

Man, you guys are passionate about your door frames. Jesus. Never thought I'd get flamed so much for posting a simple question!

Dude if it makes you feel any better I don't love frameless doors/windows either with that window flopping around. That said it's the nature of coupe ownership. It's part of the character of a BMW coupe. The only solution is going the sedan route.
