The M2 specific set is actually pretty good (640's w/ 235/40R18 and 255/35R18 Michelin Alpins).

Here is a photo of me getting home yesterday, after 20cm got dumped on us while at work and plows weren't out my way yet - gotta love leaving with bare roads and coming back to this... The tires behaved really well, but the traction control kicks in too soon IMO.

And in that case what are the pressure setting you put?
Yes, I have the staggered setup with the 235/40 fronts and 255/35 rears. I am currently at 35 PSI all around and that seems to be the sweet spot. Keep in mind I'm still on the initial break-in of the tires since I only put them on last week. So far though, no traction issues.

Very nice. I don't expect to be driving in snow much, but that makes me feel confident that if I do get caught in a few inches of snow heading home from somewhere, the car will handle it well.

At this point, my concern isn't really the tires, but rather the salt on the roads. My LBB looks white after a short drive. Need to get it washed at some point.

Best thing I ever got into the habit of doing is spraying it down when I get home. Now, this requires a big heated garage or quick drying work, but just giving it a good rinse every day or every other day works out great.

Then it goes for a full touchless wash at least 3x per week. Washing at home is a bit complicated during winter, so I only do it once per month to do wax maintenance.

m2tek- where did you order your 640s from? I went on shopBMWUSA.com but couldn't find them in the Wheels & Wheel Accessories section. Thanks

I actually purchased them from another member here who had a brand new set that they were not going to use.

That being said, if you go on eBay, there is someone selling it for even cheaper then I purchased it. Brand new set as well. Seeing your location you would have to pay for shipping but even with that, it would cheaper then other online sites.

To be honest I'm not set on one yet, have tried from 33 to 37 psi, still on the fence. Running 35 right now.

New winter tires

I just bought a square set of Pirelli zero one fr 245/40/18's on a set of black TRM C4 rims from Tirerack. I thought it would take at least a week or two to get, but TR turned them around in 3 days from order to delivery!

Now all I need is my M2 to be delivered

Hi all, I saw a set of 235/40/18s for sale. Any thoughts on that square setup? I get the 245 compromise and wonder about the 20 delta in the rear?

Thoughts appreciated!

Bumping old thread...
Do you guys know if a +20 offset rim will work on the m2?

Found a 18x8 set that came off a 2008 540i .

Thanks

Yes, 18x8 ET20 is only about 3mm narrower than stock (on the outside of the wheel). I would worry about the contact patch as the widest tire you could probably put on is 235.
Are they all the same or are the rears 18x9 ET32?

They never made an 8.5 width so they are most likely 8" but that tire size is just about perfect, you'll just have to take it easy as the car will be even more tail happy.

If wheel clears the brakes then 8" et20mm works fine with m2
