XPEL problems!

The XPEL foil on the front bumper of my M2 had to be removed as a result of a manufacturing defect of the XPEL sheets. The glue layers were, according to the installer, too thin. Remainders of jellies between the foil and the painting stayed visible. As to my installer X-Pel was aware of the problem and supplied new sheets. After a few tests they decided to redo it on my car.
But..., look what happened :

The paintwork stocks on the X-Pel:

There is no visible trace of an impact neither on the naked plastic bumper nor on the X-Pel sheet.
We are trying to find an explanation for this. Suggestions?
We also informed BMW of the case.

This exposes a potential issue w/wraps and ppf. When (and you will) you need to remove it, it could take the paint with it.

The car manufacturer will say it's a result of the PPF and PPF manufacture will say it's a defect in the paint job.

EDIT: According to XPel folks any inconsistencies in the adhesive was not related to the lawsuit (BTW, I have heard third hand, so not very reliable that the fallout from the 3M lawsuit resulted in a change to the XPel adhesive.)

One person said it was weaker another said if anything it was too strong. I have also heard that they moved their manufacturing and had issues w/quality control that I believe have since been fixed. So both may have been correct.

Is there a way to determine the bad batches of XPEL either by date or some serial number on the rolls?

The installers seem very knowledgable and know what's what.

Want to know as well, my installer just got in a big 60" wide roll of Xpel for my M2, want to know if he should use it on my car or not.

Up to now there is no resolution. The installer contacted BMW, fortunately his neighbour, to see if the are willing to put it on guarantee. Paintwork failing... But in my opinion, BMW will laugh with that as soon as they know there has been a bad Xpel sheet on it which afterwards has been removed. Wait and see...
If njet from BMW, the responsibility of the installer will be brought forward from my side. I already consulted an expert who follows the case. My insurance legal aid can provide a lawyer if necessary, but I hope the installer will take his responsibility.

As mine is fully wrapped, am scared thinking about whene i'll have to remove it for new one !!!!!!!
I don't know if with time it will stick more to the paint? Kowing that the body of the car after years will have some banding and twisting history beneath the paint which will make some zone of weak paint sticking to the car!!!!!!

I am also thinking if it would be well-considered to rewrap the bumper after that. But the charge for the bumper alone was 759€.
A lot of money to lose after all.
There is such a thing they call guarantee.

Well, things move rapidly this time ..,
This morning, I recieve a phone call from the BMW dealer who assessed the damage. By the way, another dealer as the one who sold my M2. He announced me that BMW will deal with it and make it a garantee case.
He told me that for suchlike things, BMW makes it an issue to keep satisfied customers.
You must know that this bumper yet has been a nightmare for me. Remember the damage on my M2 before delivery at the other side of the bumper. That case took about two mounths before responsability was taken and Mineral Grey painting issues were solved.
But this time they already informed me to be awared of a possible small colour difference. For that purpose they would try to stay away as far as possible from fenders and hood as these are metal parts.

Pol I'm glad it will be taken care of.

I recall your posts about the bumper being damaged before you took delivery.

It's possible that the bad paint is really the work done after that initial damage and not necessarily the paint from factory then?

Was the bumper repainted completely when it was fixed the first time?

I'm very curious about this as well - if the entire bumper had been painted, that might explain what happened.

And.. it is very difficult to get the paint to look perfect on a repainted bumper. Something about how the particles stand up? I don't remember - my bodyshop guy was explaining that the static charge on the bumpers is different than the car (plastic vs. metal) and that there is a new tool out to help with this (it uses a slightly radioactive charge to help the paint do what it is supposed to).

Anyway... I have to decide in the next 24 hours if I'm going to do my front clip (and possibly rear quarter) in Xpel. So really curious to hear if your bumper was re-painted.
