I thought his problem was the valves repeatedly/randomly closing, the cause so far unknown. I just thought that maybe the remote is faulty and randomly transmitting the 'close' signal without a press of the button (ie an internal short).
So the valves are permenently open? Not being hard on you, just want to know an easy way to achieve that.

no, they're always closed, and stay that way until you use the remote to open them.

my problem is that they keep closing on their own. the instructions say the ONLY two scenarios where they close are 1. if you turn your car off, and 2. if you use the remote to tell them to close.

since I can't rely on the stupid valves to stay open during a cruise, I just open the valves with the remote, pop the trunk, pull up the trunk liner, then unplug the connector from the exhaust valve control unit. valves stay permanently open. (until I'm back to commuting to work when I plug it back in so i don't go deaf)

Finally, last Saturday I had the opportunity to hear a M2 with MPE next to mine with the OEM exhaust. I really love the sound and the looks. And it makes the M2 even more sporty.
But for me, too loud for the M2 as a daily. Besides I suppose my neighbours won't be happy leaving my garage at 6.30AM.

Too loud when not in track mode?

Finally got my BT controller so heard it in track mode and sport+. Now that is loud and awesome. DD in sport the MPE sounds perfect to me. I would think the OEM would be too quiet imo although I still think the stock note sounds great - just mpe is better

Is it worth $3500? that is another question entirely and I think the answer is no but I still bought it so what does that say...

Did you ever figure out why your valves were randomly closing. I'm experiencing the same issue with mine.

Just seen it on 2er forum (SOURCE)

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
* The exhaust system is currently being reworked by BMW, the reason being vibrations on the tailpipes. The revised version is expected to be available again starting in March! *

For the sports mode, no further registration documents are required. The silencer is approved for operation on public roads.
When using the track mode on public roads, the license expires in accordance with the StVZO (Road Traffic Regulations).

Stainless steel or carbon tailpipes must be ordered separately!

In other words, no change to the sound from the exhaust, just a fix on the vibration ?

Great news. Just some sour grapes on the forum saying they might tone down the noise.

I will be getting the MPE for the M2...maybe even an Akra down the line if I didn't go M Performance.

From all the videos I have seen (heard), the difference between the stock and M performance exhaust is pretty distinct. The stock sounds great on the M2; as BMW learned a lesson from the F80/82 mishap. But man... I am really liking the M Perf sound, at least from videos!

Ideally I want:
-LBB M2, exec, manual (I am having some DCT thoughts since I have driven stick my entire life..lol)
-MPE
-M Perf coilovers (price a deterrent here)
-Black kidney grills, side gills, CF spoiler

That's the M2 build I drool over everyday... Rear diffuser would be nice, but then I am going above my original costs..
M performance coilovers? Without any research I would suspect these are just rebranded PSS10 or something.

Unfortunately not.

No weight gains, no performance gains, just an incredible good sound.

Could it be that the 'new version' will be of Titanium? There was a rumor that there will be a new version of the M2 MPE due to the rattling sound in cold starts. Maybe they did it better the second time...

I just saw in a German BMW dealer webshop that the M2 MPE will be available again from 19. of May onwards, maybe this is due to the version change.

Do you have a link for that?

Car should be due first weeks of May... so either I get the old version or I'll have to wait another month... In hindsight could have just waited for the LCI if the latter is the case

Just some posts above in this thread: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=163

In the meantime I found another dealer who has the MPE in stock, but I cannot tell which version.

That will be the Titanium exhaust tips. The tips are available as Titanium or as Titanium wrapped with carbon. The exhaust itself is not Titanium.

If you want a full Titanium exhaust for the M2, you will have to get the Akrapovic Evo, but that is quite a bit more expensive...
