It's the same as the RHD apart from the last 2 digits which are 12. Anyhow it doesn't matter whether you get LHD or RHD, just swap your own top cover to fit over the new module and bin the one you don't need.

Sorry, it won't work swapping top cover as it won't have the hole for the new sensor button...sorry my bad!

Thanks very much, Tag.

I found the part on ECS Tuning, but their site indicates that the part does not fit an M2.

Perhaps they're just being overly cautious? -scr

Yup. It fits a variety of models. Just isn't explicitly an F87 part. The fitment shouldn't be different at all.

Picking it up from my dealer for $120+tax this Sunday.

anybody know why this is not part of our car from the factory? Why did BMW remove this?

Also,
do people with manuals need this? I have yet to notice the issue?

  • the touch pad letter thing is silly, slow, and probably dangerous if used while driving (imho).

I'm in Melbourne and I found Sat Nav significantly better than my 2015 Audi S3 - but not up with Google Maps navigation in terms of live traffic just yet.

Voice recognition (for me anyway) isn strets ahead of the Audi.

Touch pad is not as good as the Audi MMI but the voice control makes it largely redundant. Just say TWO THREE FLINDERS ST MELBOURNE and it takes you to 23 Flinder st. For me it works fine.

Anyway, still getting used to it, will update as i discover new stuff.
TBH, i stopped trying to work it on day 2. Full disclosure, I work in an IT world so for me, i just want the best that's out there. Google just streets ahead (excuse the phun!) in maps, voice recognition (etc). BMW probably trounces Audi but still, can't expect a car manufacture to compete with a tech firm in the technology arena. And for the same reason, i won't be buying a google car anytime soon!!! Love the M2!

Foot no longer sticking when clutching in, as noted, must be something you adjust to (or learn after driving an auto).

I'm confused about the dash comments - where you can't see the odometer. I can't seem to get my seat into a position where this happens. Arms at 10 and 2 with a bend at the elbows right?
Not a matter of the arms getting in the way, it's a line of sight issue for me. If I was to draw a line between my eyeballs and the odometer reading, it would go through the top part of the steering column. I could adjust the column down to clear it but I'd actually rather have it higher.

It must be a combination of size, posture and steering column position. Consider yourself mildly lucky it doesn't impact you

Sorry, what I meant was that some people position themselves too far from the wheel. You should be close enough that your arms bend.

Weird, when I added it to the cart it said free shipping. ECS is good too, I've used them before as well. Sorry, was hoping you could save a few $$$

Yeah, it's not till you go to check out that it adds in the handling and shipping charges.

But, still appreciate your attempts to help save people money. -scr

I've also found the nav in my MY17 to be really good in Brisbane. The voice control is good enough that I actually use it all them time, and I hate voice control. Twice now the nav has rerouted me and I've ignored it only to spend half an hour eating shit in a traffic jam I would have avoided if I'd listened to the thing. Could this be a MY16 vs 17 issue?

Yeah due to the fact that M.Y16 comes with ID4 and M.Y17 come with ID5

OMG, THIS. I hate the visors. I've actually mcguyvered a piece of plastic that slides along the visor as an extender.....

That, and the lack of "Sync" Temp sucks

It happens in a manual too. The car keeps sensors and screen active as though you were in reverse until you inch forward.

I get the whole odometer cut off too. Based on my driving position, height, and all that, it's either cut off the odometer or the very top of the spedometer.

And yes, 9 and 3, bend in the elbows, brake pedal all the way to the floor.

The simple solution to reaching for the seatbelt is to reach DOWN not up. Reaching DOWN and slightly back puts zero pressure on the shoulder. Give it a try, it works.

Also I cruise with my arm rest slider in the fully forward position, when I park and pull the handbrake the handbrake contacts the arm rest and pops it open. At least my M3 the slider would just slide back when the brake handle hit it.
Also I too end up accidentally hitting top of idrive controller thus putting navigation into position save mode. I manuall shift my DCT using the stick, so might by my jacket dragging across top of idrive controller since its touch sensitive now.
Also being picky now but the Heated seats get too hot on low.
Minor things as car is great to drive.

Or buy one of these. Not the most attractive thing in the world, but it helps. Also helps with the belt not digging into your neck.

After living with the car for a few weeks now, I can really say that there is only 1 thing that bothers me and it's not so much an M2 issue as it is a 2 series issue (at least I think) and that is the lack of a 2nd door handle where the window function buttons are. There should be a small place to grasp the door in the middle of it and not all the way to the front of the door where the speakers are. You have no control opening the door like this and good luck if you catch a gust of wind as your opening it. This makes it harder when opening the door in tight spots like parking spots and trying to avoid hitting anything. IDK maybe I'm crazy but this is an annoyance to me.

The dash light, rear parking sensors, lack of temp gauge I already knew about and don't bother me at all.
