PCD M Drivers Package Question
Dealer is telling me that if I don't purchase the optional "M Driver's Package" I will not get to drive an M on the track with standard "free" PCD? Just a standard non-M car. I know the M driver's package is a full 1 day performance driving class and raises your top speed. But it was my understanding that with standard PCD you still get to take a car similar to yours (meaning another M2, since I am buying an M2) out on the track for a short period of time. So it's my understanding that I will still get to drive an M2 on the track without purchasing the M Driver's Package. Can somebody that has recently done PCD (without purchasing the M drivers package) for their M2 confirm this?

I did PCD and drove the M2 on the track and the X5 on the trails.
340 was used for the skidpad portion. The entire concept of PCD is driving on track the same model you purchased.

Unfortunately, the Performance Center is closed today for the holiday. My dealer is supposed to call the performance center and confirm for me, but I will give the performance center a call too when they reopen. |

Did PCD on 12/19 like others have said M2 for handling and break course with 340i on skid pad. For those who say going during colder months arent good, Im going to say your wrong. Tiny class means more seat time and track time. Pretty much me and 1 other person had Matt Mullins. Chief Driving Instructor. Doing one on one. Normally small classes ive heard finish around 1.30pm. Got done around 3.30pm because of extra track time

Pass on the M drivers package and take those dollars and your BMWCCA membership (15% discount) and sign out for the 2 day M School. Way better use of the dollars. I can tell you that 2 day program is awesome, your driving M2,3 and 4's all day for 2 days, you get your own car so if your in the car your driving and you learn a ton. Happy I spent the money it was an awesome experience.

Thanks! The wait is brutal though... The only way I've made it this far is from this forum and all the pics everyone is posting.

I did PCD on 12/15 and I was the only one taking delivery. I did all of the events, including the skid pad in the DCT LBB M2.
That sales person is BS'ing you into having to get that useless package. Enjoy your delivery!! I will be posting my experience soon, it was such a blast and felt personalized because I was by myself. |

PCD delivery = 1 Day M School?
I am #2 for MY2018 M2 with PCD.
I want to bring a friend to experience the same seat time as me. Buying 1 Day M School for my friend sounds like it would do this. An earlier post mentioned that attendees were not all PCD clients so I assume they were in 1 Day M School. Has anyone done this with a friend and/or significant other? Thanks in advance. |

I've done several BMW CCA M School events and it's well worth it. Price was $660 (it's $750 or so this year)--lots of track time and sort of a combination of 1 and 2 day M Schools. Price is cheaper since you're splitting a car with another driver. Each time I've gone, it's been slightly different as the instructors change it up. One time, Laura Hayes had us to do J-turns on the upper skid pad area. Another time, Evan York lets had us try and drift around a figure 8 on the upper skid pad area. The larger skid pad area also varies by instructor, some like Raphael were quite strict on instruction on CPR. Derek challenged us to see who could drift furthest (laps) around. Lots of fun. |

I just did PCD this past Wednesday... It was awesome! My wife and I went together. Here's the breakdown of the days events. -Arrive at performance center and go through high level overview of the day (slide presentation) -Go outside and get in the same model car your picking up. (I was in a LBB DCT M2. I didn't see any manual options available) -You and your guest ride together in the car and the instructor is coaching you via a radio inside the car. -Track time! The track portion is about a 30 second lap and you get to go hard on it for 10-15 minutes (about 20+ laps). Then you switch drivers and your guest does the exact same. It's perfect because both people get the same about of driving. -Break Testing: Same as above except you accelerate hard (to 45+ mph) and then jump on the breaks. Each person went 3-4 times. -Skid Pad: Every person was able to drive around the skip pad 4 times. Twice with DSC off and twice off. We did this is a 340i. -Hot Lap: You and your guest are in a M3 with a driving instructor and they rip around the entire circuit (~2-3 min lap). The rest of the day is delivery, off roading in an x5, and the museum right now. The manufacturing facility is closed until 2018 for tours. This is probably one of the coolest things I've ever done! |

That's interesting that your guest is allowed to do some driving as well. I actually called the Performance Center to ask them about my PCD. I asked if my wife could do the off-road driving part, since she was interested in getting an X model, and they said, "no, only the person purchasing the car is allowed to do the driving". Hopefully this person was wrong and just didn't know what they were talking about. My wife was also did not want to be a passenger in the performance driving sessions because she doesn't want to get car sick... lol... But if she can drive herself she would be ok. |
