Extended warranty?
For the Australian purchasers... Have any of you ordered that the extended warranty? What's best price? I was quoted just under $4000 to extend it by 2 years to five years. Is it needed? Considering that we have consumer law statutory warranty etc? I'm picking up my car in next fortnight so I have to work it out. |

That's what I had thought. But the pre delivery lady told me the manufacturers one has to be purchased before delivery and the Allianz one can be purchased after.

Unless it has changed when my 130 was nearing maturity of the warranty BMW called to see if I wanted to extend. From memory it was around the 5k mark for 2 years but dropped the price when I laughed. I didn't purchase as we sold it.
If u have to buy pre delivery do you incur the lct on this? |

Picked my car up 3 days before Xmas. What to say that hasn't already been said? What a car. Drives so sweetly and the sound! That rich, creamy howl from 4000rpm with a bit of V12ish mechanical rip. Videos don't do it justice and I can't see myself changing the exhaust if it means that it might make it sound even the slightest bit different to now. It's loud enough that I'm glad I can pop it in D and mooch along quietly (ok, less loudly) when I want to. It is such a good car. Heading down to NSW, full boot, full passengers, I could easily overtake everything, spoiling the Mexican pastime of going really slowly in single lane sections, only to floor it when an overtaking zone appears.
It gets lots of attention in grey, which is ironic, because I picked grey hoping for a more subtle look. It does look pretty angry in grey and black. Also people will take photos of your car, and in the case of a few blokes, follow you with their windows down to hear your exhaust. Speaking of which, it sounds so good that I find myself trundling along well under the limit with DKG in manual mode enjoying the noise. There a Hardon Knobstroker or something on the speakers but other than accidentally hearing some radio before turning it off, I haven't really used them, the engine just sounds too good. DKG is a proper gearbox. It's so mechanical. You can hear and feel the clutches engage and in manual it needs to be competently operated to work smoothly, which just adds to the fun. The BMW connected app is also fantastic. Being able to vent the car before leaving the beach, or lock and unlock it for access, send the car destinations, schedule them etc, all fantastic. For work, I've been scheduling appointments by syncing my calendar, where the app picks out location data and then lets me know when I need to leave to get there in time. Also iDrive 5.0 is so good that if you're planning on buying a second-hand M2, I would hold out for a car with it. There is no better way for a human being to control the non-driving functions of a car short of thought control. Wow, I just logged on to post some pics and thank the bloke who recommended The Detailing Studio for my paint protection. Last edited by ilovewagons; 01-07-2017 at 01:45 AM.. |

Congrats ilovewagons, saw my first MG up close today and i must say it does look damn good.
As for your comment about the exhaust, i was with you about not needing to change from stock until i heard the BMW Perf Exhaust today, just imagine the same sound as stock but amplified and angrier... |

I went with Gyeon MOHs+ and phobic. Done at The Detailling Studio in Coorparoo. I have no frame of reference, but people seem to trust them with cars that cost 5 times as much as mine, and I was happy with how it all looked! Had some rain a couple of days after it was done and it just beaded and ran off, the car has been super easy to keep clean.

Just received my VIN
Using the VIN decoder it says, what I think is production ended 6 Jan. Still not coming up on WW website. Is this the usual shipping company for Australia? I'm keen to track the ship! |

Hi everyone!
Mine arrived last week - black with black grille. In at Bon Vivant getting OptiCoat Pro. New Vorsteiner VFF103 wheels due in about a week, I'll get those OptiCoated too. OEM Black side vents also due in a week. I'll have to decide if I want to go the whole sports exhaust / carbon diffuser track... Thoughts? ------------- I'll post my thoughts versus my old S3 sedan (also manual) once I've driven it a little more. |

As for the exhaust i'd say give it a month or so with the stock system and then decide whether you want to go louder, for a stock system i reckon the M2 sounds great. Saying that i did hear the BMW Performance Exhaust for the first time last weekend, price is the only thing holding me back...sounded incredible. |

Someone mentioned earlier about a small roadtrip to help get the kms on during the break-in period. Sounded like a great idea and instead of refreshing the shipping company website constantly I thought I'd start a little planning for a weekend away.
I came up with this so far. 1,100kms. https://www.google.com.au/maps/dir/M...-37.813611!3e0 Unfortunately Google maxed out on locations so I couldn't add in driving through Bright and Milawa. Thinking 3 days. Nights in Lakes Entrance and Beechworth. Stop through Brown Brothers for a tasting on the second day. Home via Four Pillars and the Reefton Spur. Comments welcome. Particularly if there are some good roads you might be aware of. |
