Won't be announced before LCI?
Won't be seen before LCI?
Won't be able to order before LCI?

I'm also looking at the Alfa Romeo Giulia quadr....whatever (clover)

Looks fun, but I'm afraid they won't hold their value.

That's a good one since many dealers probably will not even get one. I'm on the list with no deposit just as I was for my M2.

According to Scott26, this car won't be offered for US. Does anyone else have newer information on whether this car will make it across the Atlantic?

North America is the largest market for M GmbH, I doubt they wouldn't offer it here.

I'd like to think that too, but the E46 M3 CSL, E92 M3 GTS, and E90 M3 CRT say otherwise.

The E46 M3 CSL was never sold in USA.

True, but more recently than these the 1M and M4 GTS have made it to North America.

Exactly my point.

Yeah. I agree. I think there's just a chance for either result. I'm hoping for news that the M2 CS will make it to USA. However, if the M2 CS has some specialized parts on it, I can imagine federalization of the car too cost prohibitive.

I believe Scott26 indicated some time ago that if a lightweight M2 was built, he did not believe it would make it to the US due to legal requirements, e.g. crash testing the lightweight material car.

A lightweight M2 would likely be a CSL and not a CS. Scott26's post was quoted in the original post of this thread.

For now there will be an M2.

Beware, that was a post of June 2014. Let's distinguish the M2 CS and the M2 CSL.

No M2 CS for the US ? Only if it doesn't meet US rules and regs. I put my money on the possibility that BMW M will ensure that the M2 CS will comply. The M2 CSL, on the other hand, may be a different story.

I spoke to my CA today, looks like I finally have a production slot for my M2 (non-cs) on this recent batch.

Also, he told me that his dealership is expecting one allocation for a "special edition M2" sometime in the next year. I asked him if this was the "CS" version and he confirmed that it was likely. He didn't give me any more details but said that he would let me know once they have more info on it and that I would be able to come check it out whenever they get it.

"Sometime in the next year" will not be the CS... maybe the Performance Edition?

After reading about the recent performance edition leak I am now thinking the same thing. This conversation was a couple days before that information became widespread on the forum. At the time I was not aware of any other "special edition" in the works besides the CS and the upcoming LCI. He hasn't sent me any details yet but that seems more in line with the other information out there on the performance edition.
