over msrp
Looking at a new m2 tomorrow (only 3 or 4 in CA) asking 15k over(72k)....Im sure I can get them to 8-10k over but also same dealer has a 2016 m4 3k miles for 69k (before negotiating)--which makes both vehicles almost the same price.
I missed the 1m boat in 2011 and always regretted not sucking it up and paying over sticker..for a more rare m.....but to get a 80k car for 67k or a 57k car for 67k is making this a heart vs brain problem... What do you guys think? I know life is hard |

It would be tricky for me if I lived in California and not Canada. I would pay 5-6 over MSRP if I lived in Cali and could drive this car all year. |

Did they add any accessories for that extra bump or is it purely just over MSRP? Where I'm at it seems most of the dealers are jacking up the price by adding MPE, carbon fiber add-ons and other accessories. They technically are selling at MSRP but, for example, the MSRP of MPE with CF tips is $4,500. So add that along with other CF accessories and you can bump the price $10k easy and still be able to say you are selling at MSRP.

In all honesty I would just buy the M4 or wait for an M2 at msrp. You could find one at sticker if you looked out of state or just placed an order with a reasonable dealer. Don't pay over sticker, it just makes them markup the next one they get.

The M2 is not a limited production model like the 1, so I'd go with the M4. Drive it for a year or two, wait till the M2 hype dies down then get one for MSRP or less. Your M4 should still retain a nice resale value, then sell it for the M2, if you still desire.

Don't forget Cali sales tax on that 15k. plus your DMV is based on sales price. The M2 is a fun car but your over payment will continue while you own it. Mine is identical to what you're looking at and I feel it's a solid 55k car. I paid 57395 plus a 600 dealer fee plus shipping to LA. Add in the Expel, bits from IND and Cali sales tax and it is now a 69k car. But 2016 cars have better maintenance from BMW so hopefully I can get a little ROI back from that. I would make sure the maintenance comes with the M4 before choosing. Brake pads and rotors are pricey.
I constantly wonder if a 2011/2012 CPO 911 GTS coupe would have been better. Make sure to post pics of your choice. |

No way I'd pay that much over MSRP.
Get the M4 I think there's no argument the m2 competes with the M4 when price is taken into account. But for the same money, M4 all the way. |

There are dealers that will sell at MSRP if you're willing to wait. At $72k you can have an M4 or save money on a CPO M4. You could also maybe buy someone's place in line for less money than they want in total.

Yep, not even broken in. Plus you're getting an S coded motor. Don't get me wrong, I'm on a list for an M2, but no way I'd pay over $70k for one. Good luck!

If someone was trying to charge me 10k+ over sticker for a production car id be taking my business elsewhere. Not worth it. Get on a list and wait, you'll get an M2, but you'll pay what its worth. They are depreciating assets after all. Within a couple of years of paying over the odds you'd start regretting it. My $0.02
If you don't mind paying a bit more for a year or twos worth of M motoring, get the M4 and use that whilst you wait. Then trade it in. It'll still be cheaper. |

the 1M wasnt "limited" either. It was just that they had a shorter period of time to produce it. Now we know the M2 will be in prod for a while but that doesnt mean all demand for sure will met by the time it ends production. And waiting lists are alrdy long af(sold out in the UK and swe, prob some other markets as well)

I wonder if you could locate one outside of CA and either have it shipped to CA or fly out and drive it back? The savings would more than pay for it. I did that with the wife's X6. I was able to get such a better deal on a new X6 from a dealer in Cleveland, OH that I bought it and had it shipped to Texas and still saved a few thousand.
I basically just shot emails to the Internet salesman at several dealers around the country and worked a great deal from there. Not that you're going to score a steal on a M2 but you could at least get one at MSRP. |
