I've been told that system could be behind. You should call BMW Genius to get an update. I also got my VIN number today. If they were holding up production I doubt they would let mine go into 150 and assign a VIN so quickly.

oh. ok...

I decided to call my dealer anyways. And I am one of the lucky ones that was not affected. Car finished production June 20th and is now waiting for me at the dealer.
I was also one of the not-affected cars.

Until it was.

Things are very fluid right now, so don't be surprised if something comes down the line.

I'd love to know as well. My car has been sitting at the dealer since the 18th....dealer tells me they've received no updates or instructions yet from BMW Canada.

I haven't heard anything about the parts yet, but have a call with my guys sometime tomorrow. I'll post any updates I have both here and in the CDN thread.

Exclamation VPC Hold for Rear Differential

My M2 arrived in Galveston yesterday and per my SA, has a work order that started at 6 AM CT today to replace the rear differential. The estimated ship date from the VPC is 7/29 and arrival 8/1.

I'm taking a 'wait and see' attitude to this schedule. My SA said they pulled all M3s/M4s in stock because of the stop sell order and that it is best that they do the repair at the VPC vs. the dealership. Mentioned the VPC has full capabilities, possibly even more that the dealership.

Again, wait and see...

FWIW, my sales manager pinged me to say that they are expecting information re: the fix today...expecting his call later today to give me an update.

It does. Full body/paint shop and installers who run through tens of thousands of cars a day so they are well used to installing things whereas a dealer tech might not be as experienced.

I was told the same. Just got off the phone with my guys and the call did happen but only to tell them no news yet and to wait a few more days before the next update.

Looks like it'll be a long while.

This tells me BMW doesn't know what to do about it yet... or the fix is too expensive to roll out to thousands of cars so they are looking for a better option. I really feel for those waiting...

Minor / unofficial update:

Had the call with my sales manager this afternoon. He mentioned that his contact told him unofficially that the fix instructions will be out "tonight or tomorrow". And that parts have already been ordered and are enroute, but does not have a firm ETA. His hope is that if the parts arrive in the next 4-5 days, that he will get it installed and have my car to me next week.

This is not great news since its all still fairly speculative.

I heard the same from my guys but it's all so wishy-washy that I chose not to post it. I'm just assuming at this point it'll be a month out so I don't torture myself.

The only thing getting tortured is the 435i GC xDrive I got as a loaner But according to my wife, I need to age another 20 years before I can buy the "old man sedan" hahaha

Did you quickly correct her and tell her that in 20 years it will be more like the "old man porsche" or "old man Ferarri?"

Im not exactly impressed with the 328xi wagon Ive got either but at least it's not an enterprise chevy sonic...

Oh jeez a wagon??? That is brutal! I was supposed to get an M4 but sadly it was sold a few days before I could get it as a loaner. I tried to convince them to let me take the 2015 Alpina B6, but they weren't too keen on that...

The 435i GC actually impressed me quite a bit, would definitely have it as a back up car for long trips, etc. Plus that hatch is awesome! you can fit so much stuff in in.

I know I'm lusting over volvos new V90 pretty bad!

Usually they try to get you a car close to what you own, but M2 to wagon seems a stretch.
