Updated car differentials

My car arrived to the dealer Thursday. I got a call today from my sales advisor saying they are updating the differential on the car? Anyone have any ideas or got a call regarding this?

I'd guess it means they want the car to sit around for a while so they can show it off a bit. They aren't touching the differential (singular).

My SA mentioned keeping mine for a week when I got the production number initially. I think he was so sick of me by the time it showed up that I got it out of there in 4 hours.

Could be... but it also could be some kind of firmware update to the eLSD controller.

True, but PDI shouldn't take more than a half day on a car that a customer has waited 4 months for. They can fast track the special order cars.

You don't tell the kids Santa just left all the presents, but it's going to take mom a couple days to wrap them since she's busy and other kids want to see them first.

You do if you want to show off the presents you got for your kid to other parents and kids Could be a combination of the two.. a small legitimate reason, stretched out into a multiday fix for their own purposes.

Sounds like a hoax to me.. they are probably banking on the fact that most of their customers don't know what a differential is.

Somehow the term "updating" doesn't seem to fit.

Welp. My car is definitely included in this. Ruh roh.

What I'm curious about is why this specific period of time? Were the differentials different before this? The July 4th date might explain why no cars were produced for a period of time between June 24th and the second week of July.

"No repair available at this time" I wonder how long it will take for the dealerships to receive the parts they need? This really sucks for the people ready to pick up their cars in the next couple of days. Sorry guys, hopefully it doesn't take too long.

Produced June 16th, was supposed to pick it up this coming Friday. Goddamn sometimes I seriously wish I had bought another car. Hopefully this will be fixed asap.

Fingers crossed I'm not one of the "certain"
M2's affected.

"issued on certain M2 coupe.....produced between May 12th 2016 through July 4th 2016"

The wording is so vague. It would be nice if it only affected a subset and not all cars between those dates...so that there's some hope my car gets delivered as scheduled next week
