My order is at sea as of this morning meaning it was only in port of exit for 3 days.

I guess this confirms that I'm all good on the diff front.

Fingers crossed for you... Mine is at my dealership and I was due to collect it today BUT 2 days ago I got an email:

"BMW AG have put a restriction on all M2, M3 and M4’s being delivered due to:
Issue: The discs in the rear-axle differential wear out very quickly. This causes very loud noises in the rear-axle differential.
Action: Replace differential

I have a car for you to use in the meantime, we are looking at a few weeks.
"
To say I'm gutted doesn't come close.

Mine also has iDrive 5.0. Does this mean mine is MY17? Also if thats the case does it come with anything else other than the new iDrive?

Yes, that's as I understand it. If you spec'd 'Enhanced Bluetooth' then I believe it will also get wireless charging and personal hotspot.

Hi Chills,

It's not a nice feeling to get news like this when it's so close, thats for sure.

Yours must have slipped the net whilst mine was collared at the the factory.

I'm now confirmed a 66 plate which has it's plus points and I imagine your's won't be too long after mine

What makes it worse is that mine was ready for collection back on the 12th July but I asked them to wait until the 30th as I was off on my hols the next day. I shoulda just got it and parked it, waiting for me.
In the long run, another month is no big deal, I guess and the new Sept registration number may help when it comes to selling a few years down the road.

Well I should declare that I'm passed on my allocation.....! Decided to pursue other avenues (2 car approach 1 massive one smaller than an M2 fun weekend car)....neither bought yet but an X5 M50D is on the way

Best of luck all those with UK orders, the car will be super rare on UK roads.

Cheers
Chris

Good luck - I think there are some fantastic deals on M50Ds about at the moment - love our X5 40D; make sure you treat yourself to full leather interior

My LBB commenced production last Tuesday (9th Aug), and today I emailed BMW for an update, and they're telling me it's at 8200 "released to carrier". When is a realistic time that this will arrive at the dealer?

A couple of weeks by my reckoning and bang on time for the new reg.

Mine is sitting at the dealer's waiting to be picked up on the 1st.

Thanks for the input. That sounds promising. They said expected delivery week 36 (5th Sep), but that sounds very pessimistic. It keeps getting moved back a week. Originally it was to be delivered middle of August.

The reason I am a little concerned is that I go away on the 7th September, and any later than that and I won't be able to collect it for several weeks.

Fingers crossed.

My order started like your's with it being put back and then back some more until it transpired that the delay was the differential fiasco. All in all it had been delayed by over four weeks with it remaining at the factory on a "5500" over that duration.I was supposed to have collected at the beginning of August, but have held out for a 66 plate.

Looking on the bright side, your order at "8200" is on the way out of the door and arrival is down to logistics now.

I found it better ringing up customer services for a regular update as the dealer didn't know any more as the information is on the same system.
