I have no data to back this up, but logically speaking, yes. I think it will indeed last longer with limited miles. Less UV exposure, less temp cycling, less washes, less rock and other impacts.

I had PPF on my last car for 7 years (30,000 miles) and it looks fresh as day 1.

F87, Couldn't agree more. It's all about the installer and getting those full panels done as opposed to half the hood or half the fenders. Hats off to you for the color choice. Nothing looks better than a freshly detailed black car. But man, the maintenance to keep it that way. Ugh. I couldn't do it!

OP, I have the same coverage as F87LUV has (mine is Xpel Ultimate, not sure what she used) and was done by a very reputable shop in my area. I'm thrilled with the results. My guy (and most top shops) modifies the files before they go to the plotter to grow each PPF panel cutout by a 1/4" or so which leaves plenty of material to wrap the film around the panels so you never see a line.

I followed up on the PPF with a ceramic coat (Gyeon MOHS) and wax on top of that. Its glossy as hell and i never notice the PPF.

The stuff aint cheap but neither are our cars, or a respray. I think it's well worth the money.
My installer is doing full front, wrapping all edges, using the top Suntek film, less discoloration than x-pel and applying the just released formula of Mohs+ Q2. Should be ready for Cars n Coffee on Sat

Nice! You'll love it. I'm amazed at how fast maintenance washes are with the MOHS. I pressure wash with Gyeon foam, then rinse with pressure washer. Then a quick 2 bucket hand wash. Then dry. Then glass. 30 to 40 minutes total.

The water absolutely jumps off the MOHS coating.

You can see it only if you stand right in front of it and stare at the car.

Did XPEL, but most importantly is the INSTALLER not so much which PPF.. heard LUMAR is also good.

I did mine with Extreme Auto Colors Spa in South Carolina because they are right down the road of the BMW Performance Center in SC and I did a Performance Delivery.

Pros, I do Autocross and track events and all the debris and rocks don't damage my bumper.
Looks so good, Ban! How's that exhaust treating you? You recovered from your nightmare from that "other" company?

Thanks!

Yes indeed! The new exhaust is intoxicatingly good!

Took six months and tons of time but got my money back in exchange for bringing down the thread. But everyone knew already what happened and I just wanted to move on and change up my exhaust so agreed to it.

Last week i got my new Lci M2 from the dealer and took it directly to the PPF installer. All the front bumper, hood, fenders & rear bumper, mirrors front lights and rear half of rocker panels are covered by LLumar. Its barely noticable and thick enough to protect the car from stone chipping. I highly recommend doing it as soon as you get the car nonmatter where you live.

He is correct but they still operate as separate entities which allows them to suck up the $ in a broader scale. Suntek was Commonwealth Laminating & Coating / SunTek® Window Films up till Dec 2014 when they were acquired.

Eastman Completes Acquisition of Commonwealth Laminating & Coating

KINGSPORT, Tenn., December 11, 2014 – Eastman Chemical Company (NYSE:EMN) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Commonwealth Laminating & Coating, Inc. The acquired business is part of Eastman’s Advanced Materials business segment, and is expected to be accretive to 2015 earnings excluding acquisition-related costs and charges.

“This acquisition will help us better serve the broad and diverse customer base for window and protective films while supporting expansion of our product offerings and the use of window films,” said Brad Lich, executive vice president. “We’re also very excited about adding the SunTek® brand to our performance films products portfolio.”

The addition of Commonwealth’s expertise, paint protection technology, brand and sales channels, and experienced workforce is expected to support growth of our performance films products.

“Eastman is committed to providing continued superior products, service, and support to customers worldwide as we integrate these two businesses,” said Travis Smith, vice president and general manager, performance films. “We’re excited to bring Commonwealth employees together with our world-class global performance films team to benefit customers and support our growth ,” Smith said.

Commonwealth had 2013 sales revenue of approximately $100 million. The acquisition includes Commonwealth’s manufacturing facility and master distribution center in Martinsville, Va., and nine sales distribution centers that serve the global market.

Exactly, this allows them a large pool of money to do R&D.
