Any certified technician is capable of installing it. A lot of guys take it on themselves on a Sunday with a case of beer but I will always recommend having a professional do the install.

2-3 hours is a fair estimate. That will include allowing the car to cool down and a test drive run after install as well.

I will always recommend having a professional do the install but it is definitely something you can get done on your own if you're handy.

Got mine installed the other day. Took a technician about an hour and a half. This was done at a shop that does a lot of BMW tuning work, so I think he knew what he was doing. O2 sensors would need to be reinstalled. He ended up removing the engine cover to pull out the O2 sensors from OEM downpipe from the top. Not a big deal, of course, but I would not trust a regular muffler shop with this.

Yes they both use HJS.
200 CEL is the better option, more airflow & better sound.

Ever since Wagner upgraded their cats from Euro 5 to Euro 6 we have not had any CEL complaint.

Fabspeed & Wagner sound very similar. Wagner has a deeper tone.

I will pm you price for both

My local garage mechanic who is going to install my Fabspeed sports cat is asking me if I have an instruction notice for doing this. Is the job straightforward and obvious or is there something he should know ? I mean is it obvious once the car is up on the lift and one is standing underneath ?

The former Fabspeed member on Bimmerpost has left. How did the install go? How does the car sound? I would love to receive some feedback.

Installation on tuesday 5 december. Of course I'll do a write up with all my impressions, good and bad. I'm going to be there while the work is done, translating the instructions to the garage mechanic.

The M2 downpipe installation is a breeze. Watch a YouTube video or two or an M235 DP install, there is an abundance of room to work in. If you have basic ability, the right tools, a lift is a plus you can do this yourself. Now if we were talking an N54 DP install, that is way more difficult. Remember the car is inanimate and we are smarter than the car!

My friend, who’s a DIY warrior with a lift, and I installed the Fabspeed sports cat on my M2 this past weekend. The install is pretty straight forward and took us a little less than an hour working at a very casual pace. Neither of us had prior experience working on the M2. It would’ve taken him an hour by himself because he’s just really good at this stuff. A helpful hint I got from a forum member was to unplug both sensor male/female sockets from the top prior to working the OEM cat loose from the bottom.

The most difficult part was freeing the OEM cat from the connecting bands that stuck to it quite well even after removing the securing bolts. Having a lift that afforded us the clearance to use a crowbar made a big difference in this instance.

My first impression of the deeper note is but I will wait until I have more seat before offering my opinion.

I have the MPE and the Fabspeed Sport cat and while I absolutely love the sounds of it, I started to get a CEL. The error was for the o2 sensor bank 1 efficiency. Before people ask, yes all gaskets were check, all v-bands were properly tightened and rechecked. No notable leaks.

how long have you been driving it before the CEL came on? is it possible the o2 sensors were interchanged when installing? seems like an easy thing for a shop to mess up if they are not paying attention
