The best thing for you to do, assuming you don't have the errors that I had at the top of the page, is to get a copy of E-Sys, and reset things back to default, and then try again.

I'm not familiar with Carly, but if it's anything like BimmerCode, it concerns me that a) it's slow and can cause errors, and b) it's difficult to reset to defaults because the best you have is a backup from previous coding times with the software... if you're lucky.

E-Sys is quite different, and can generate default coding data for your car even if you didn't have a backup. It's also far easier to get a sense of what's going on under the hood, and contrary to popular belief, really isn't that difficult to use.

The downside, of course, is that you have to install it on a PC rather than a phone...

I'm quite happy to help you go through the process of trying to fix this... if you use E-Sys. It's not that I don't want to help you otherwise, it's just that I'm not sure I, or anyone else, is able to!

I used Esys or actually INPA ISTA to code my e92 M3, and agreed much better...Carly is way better than bimmercode IMO but works the same way but it does store a backup thati cant ind LOL...

My problem is dif than the OP....Its active just the GPS thinks im in africa and cant get a connection online so im leaning toward tele comm box replacement...

If anything I damaged the FEM or F series version from coding too much which is very common...

Some modules are not active when the car is off, so at least for some things, you have to have it on.

It's always safer to have the car running, particularly if you're using slow apps like Bimmercode and Carly. If you're using E-Sys, actual coding only takes about 30 seconds, so it's usually not necessary to have the car running.... Another benefit to E-Sys over apps.

Will the BMW dealer see things if they are activated or deactivated like the active sound?

I think they can find evidence of coding if they are looking.. Shadow codes? Not sure if they can be cleared prior to a dealer visit.

I too haven't had any luck with coding the angel eyes for full brightness with the low beams on my 18 LCI. Anyone have a fix to this issue?

they probably have to update the app. newer cars have different versions of bmw's software. i'm sure it will be fixed and working in the next update but you can always email them and ask. they're very good with responding quickly and being helpful.

I'm wondering if anyone has experienced this and if it's related to coding ASD off. I've all of a sudden lost all sound from the speakers. No audio of any kind. Stereo, warning sounds etc. I coded the ASD off about 4 months ago. I've had the car for 5 months. MY2017. Yesterday evening while driving the audio would cut out intermittently. Then a few moments later it cut out for good. This morning still no sound. Everything on the screen is working as is. Any guesses? Should I try turning the ASD back on before calling for service? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Usually this is a sign of a died amplifier.

Ya I went out again this afternoon and it worked for a minute. Then went dead for a minute and came back on for 5 minutes. Then after that dead for the remaining 30 minutes I was driving. I've booked an appointment at the dealer. Should I put the ASD back on before going in?

So...
I read thru this and bought the app, mainly to turn off ASD. I performed that code and it worked perfectly! Love this app already and now can hear the true MPE sound

So today I decided to poke around in the app and started exploring the FEM category. There I seen the side mirror fold on lock, un-fold on unlock and door handle LED's while in reverse so I decided to code those. When I did there were a bunch of error noises and the i-drive lit up the a "advanced crash safety module" not functioning and it asked me to file BMW...then i lost the connection WTF did I do?

So I restarted the app and logged back in...when it did it said coding compete and I checked most things and it seemed fine. Is this what happens when you gone...are the errors normal? Scared the crap out of me.

Also can you code in the force breaking tail light blink in the normal mode or must you use expert mode?

Thanks

All errors are normal during coding.

Brake force display is through expert mode only as far as I know (that’s how I did it).
