Not reliably. Get a high flow catted DP.

Every catless dp will eventually throw a cel.

Just put a spacer in front of your post cat O2 sensors and you will not get the CEL.

There is nothing theoretical about it. It has been working since manufacturers started putting cats in the cars and has 100% success rate.

Buddy. There is no need to loose your temper and shout. It works on any car, so I don't see any reason why it would not work on the M2.

If it has not been done on an M2 yet, now is your chance to be the first one.

if you don't want to tune the car and don't want a CEL then buy a sport cat. end of story.

Don't bother. You have to get so lucky in terms of how lean the ratio gets because of the spacer and chances are the OBD2 system is logging all kinds of emissions errors prior to an actual CEL. It might work for a bit but it's only a matter of time until you get a code using this method. I'm speaking from experience on an e36 m3 and e39 m5 and trust me you will be fiddling forever. With the E36 I just installed a bypass circuit purchased from bimmerforums and the E39 M5 I ended up installing hiflow cats.

I have had these on my E36 M3 and E63 M6 for some years now without any issues or a CEL. Installed once and never had to do anything.

I also used Hasan's method on my M135i.
In 3 years, I had 2-3 times a CEL. But it disapeared after a time. Good solution if you don't want to tune. Friend of mine use it on hes 996 Turbo and Megane RS. No problem.

What’s your reason for not wanting the tune? If you’re goin catless with the DP why not go all the way?

really? since when? i've brought in cars without cats for service at the dealer and never had issues or been told that. also even if that were the case you can take a dp off before service, replace it with the stock one and be fine.

Evidence of a tune would be logged in the DME and you'd be screwed regardless.

If something went wrong and they knew about it then it would be an easy thing to point the finger at

You can't expect to change such a critical component of the car and BMW not pull you up on it. I mean the car is throwing a cel! That's indication enough that you've made a change that puts the car outside of engine oem specs

To be honest I'm just playing devils advocate here. I've never heard of a warranty being denied because of a dp but I have heard plenty of times from dealers that changing it would have warranty consequences

Get the Fabspeed or Wagner catted downpipe instead.
Power gains are going to be the same with high flow cats vs catless on stock car

This might be a long run, but I am yet to see one car with a CEL due to a Catless DP in Lebanon. I didn't get one on my 435i, one of my friends with a 435i also didn't get one, both my friends with M2's also didn't get one.

I believe it has something to do with the "Levant package" that shows up on E-Sys for all cars. I believe this stops all warnings related to emissions due to the somewhat dodgy fuel quality in Lebanon.

All US imported cars get CEL from the gas, so I guess this was BMW's remedy for the region.

Check out if you can code it.
