Also how are you finding down the sides of the car? I know there is already film applied to the rear arches but how is the side skirts going, are the front wheels throwing many rocks up hitting this area?
The rock is near the side fendor about 6 inches from the headlight. This looks like a problematic area that needs to be protected.

Or never go on highways again.

This is one of the reasons why I kind of want AW. With AW you do not really need a clear bra since the color is easily matched being non metallic. With LBB I would be really pissed off if I needed a repaint since that color would seem impossible to match.

Stone chips and rim rash: we hate it but sooner or later it may happen. The car is used for its purpose: driving.

Badges of honor.

yes, but I'll try my best to keep it as good as possible.

Talked with BMW, they don't have that Paint color for the M2. But they gave me the paint code color : C16.

I found another site that has the paint for the LBB X6M which is the same paint color. So I bought a quick touch up paint for that. I'm hoping it arrives by friday so that I can go get it prepared by Monday for the wrap.

You can daily drive the car and still keep it looking top. Stone chips are inevitable, though... Especially the windscreen gets chipped pretty bad over the years.

Have driven my M2 only 90kms and avoided any highways until i have PPF installed on Monday, today i noticed 2 stone chips on the bumper already...the paint must be super thin on these cars .
Had my AW 135i for 3 years and had 1 small chip on the bonnet.

Car Bra

Does anyone know where I can purchase a strap on car bra for the M2?

I have got it wrapped with A4 clear laminating sheets stick with sticky tape to avoid further stone chips.

Had a strap on bra on my last 320D and sold it without a single scratch or chip on the front.

Not game to drive it out of the shed without protection. Driving me crazy.

Bugger, they were really helpful when i got mine, not sure where else to try.

Sweet, i owned a MY98 & then a MY07, only minor mods on mine, mainly cosmetic, sounds like yours would of been a beast.

Normally the clear bra should be installed before the the gloss coat I guess.

I'm surprised that you could get stone chips in San Jose ! Usually stone ships are for us in the north because of the shit the put on the roads to melt the white shit (snow)...

I'll take ownership of my M2 next week and it will stay in the garage (it will certainly be a tough wait) until it gets the Xpel Ultimate on the whole front end (mirrors, bumper, hood and fenders) and the Opti-Coat Pro Plus ceramic coating everywhere. The only "unprotected" miles will be between the BMW dealer and home and beleive me I'll be very very very prudent, but here even in summer there is still shit (rock and sand) on the roads from last winter.

I hate winter so much !!! Lucky you in the south !

Get Dr Colorchip if they have it yet. It's great.
How do you buy Dr. Colorchip in the US? I looked on their website and it didn't appear that you could?

To the OP - sorry to hear that - this happened to me on the third day I had my 981. OF COURSE it had to hit right where the hood meets the bumper - it couldn't be just one or the other...lol...I literally almost cried. But it also lessened the pain when other, normal sized chips inevitably happened. If you drive it, you're going to get little marks - just the way it is.

I have a number of chips like that already on my hood. Maybe 4-6.

I'll fix em in time, for now taking care to seal them well, but it's just a car. I have xpel bumper but not hood. I do 80 miles highway/day, it's inevitable. Bumpers of my previous cars were speckled grey, a mess, bumper protection is essential for commuter cars.

I'll likely use road warrior or similar on sensitive panels after roads are salted or cindered in winter.

You are right, stone chips cannot be completly avoided but I have to disagree about rim rash which only happend to bad drivers. Rim rash are easy to avoid, I drive cars since 44 years and I never rash a car's rim.

Second! I will be driving my new M2 about 1150 miles home. I won't be able to get xpel until I get home...Roadwarrior looks like the perfect temporary solution to make sure the surface is still perfect when I get home!

agreed. I may be weird but i am not affected by stone chips, but would be seriously damaged mentally if i had rim rash lol

Take a look at Tracwrap by Xpel. It's a bit pricier but most likely thicker.
