Clarkson's Top 10 star cars includes M2
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Jezza named his top 10 cars from the past year or so. The M2 is on the list with a number of less and more expensive cars from exotics to SUVs. The only BMW (not surprising). List is here for those who don't want to click: Mazda MX-5 2.0 Sport Recaro: What kind of monster doesn’t like the Miata? Alfa Romeo 4C: A magical car for insane people. Mercedes-AMG GT S: We won’t disagree with this pick. Ford Focus RS: Same. We dig this car, if the 10,000 posts we’ve done about it didn’t tell you that. Ford Mustang GT: If you can find a better modern V8 muscle/pony car than this one, buy it. Volvo XC90 D5 AWD: The SUV that will make you love SUVs. Vauxhall Zafira Tourer 1.6 CDTi Tech Line: I don’t know what that is but it sounds nice? Sure, whatever. Europeans deserve nice economy cars too. BMW M2: Instant future classic for sure. (read his M2 review) Ferrari 488 GTB: I certainly wouldn’t kick one out of my garage. Lamborghini Aventador: Nice and subtle. I know there are some out there who despise this man but hey, news is news, right? |

Does anyone still care what "Jezza" thinks about cars anymore? Did anyone ever?

I'm going to take a wild guess here and say the answer to those questions is "yes"

Clarkson has always been a great entertainer. But a lousy car reviewer. He's not a good driver very and terrible about reviewing cars from any standpoint. Fun show, but I could give a rats ass what he thinks of the car. |

He actually gave the Alfa 6/5 stars and 2/5 stars, which is weirdly accurate.

I think JC's opinions are pretty well articulated and don't necessarily represent his views only. He synthesizes a lot of information, especially when he was on TG and had professional staff to vet his opinions and suggest their own and still think he does research a vehicle quite a bit prior to writing about it. The strengths and weaknesses he brings up with cars aren't really outliers but are pros and cons that a lot of respected reviewers bring up as well.
Nice to see the M2 continue to garner overwhelming praise and what he has said has been corroborated by journos as well as race drivers (e.g. Robert Collins). Also notable is his repudiation of the F8x generation M3/4. I really haven't found a past review of his so off the mark. |

I miss Clarkson and the boys. He is one of the greatest automotive journalists of all time. Frankly, I don't think there is anyone better. He goes beyond the generic reviews given by most auto journalists and has a way of articulating the unique characteristics of each car.

Yes, he's so terrible at reviewing cars that was able to make a living out from it for 30 years. Look at his print work outside of the top gear brand and you may find that his style has been copied by many of our favorite automotive writers today. |
