Off the top of my head, I do not know what the ratios are. My technicians have found the closest to 1:1 to be in 4th gear though.

I'm confused. Isn't this saying the opposite. "Had an M2 stop by the other day for the addition of our Sport Cat Downpipe and to try out the Dinan Piggyback Tuner. We did numerous dyno runs and overlayed stock, stock exhaust with Dinan Tuner, Sport Cat Downpipe, and the Sport Cat Downpipe with the Dinan Tuner. The Dinan Tuner made some nice torque improvements, but would be begin to break up over 6k after a few pulls, deeming it unreliable in our opinion. The Dinan tuner was taken back off and he left with our Sport Cat Downpipe happy as can be. In the client's words below... "We did about a thousand dyno runs today at Fabspeed. Here are the results: (GRAPHS TO FOLLOW) stock: 325/366 (a low reading but their M4 put down 410whp which is 10-20 lower than others on that forum board) with Sport tuner: 333/396 sport cat DP only: 339/388 sport cat DP and tuner: 338/426 The DP is awesome! It creates amazing low/midrange punch. In addition, my entire exhaust setup is louder throughout the RPM range. I recommend it to anyone. I'm looking forward to a proper DINANtronics piggyback to raise the boost and other parameters." |

I mean, that's showing that the sport tuner (and other piggies generally), are just fine at boost power in the midrange (hence the mid range torque increases). They don't gain much up top, where perhaps the factory timing parameters need to be better optimized to make the most from the limited turbo headroom.
So while the sport tuner may not be gaining you peak power, you're clearly still gaining power in the mid range...

That's what Dinan suggested me to do a few weeks back.

I reckon your bhp figures would be better if you had an updated ic for the dyno. The reason your making great torque and not hp Is timing retard due to heat soak, I'm sure of it. On the open road u bet it feels great!?

I now have a Wagner evo 1 comp on my car. Throttle response better and pulls smoother to redline. I never ever feel the ect is cutting timing but the things buttery to the end. Took a few hundred miles to adapt as it did for the cat and the sport tuner.

IC, box, and turbo are all arriving together. It's been a long 6 weeks thus far.

Absolutely. Already did the baseline grunt work (339/388). I see no reason why 400 WHP can't be reached, let alone 450 TQ.

My dyno run was in 4th gear. Everywhere I read, 5th is 1:1.....
Fabspeed Motorsport we should try 5th gear next time.

I am going to check with my technicians to see what their thoughts on. We can absolutely still do a couple pulls in 5th for you and compare the results!

I'm really confused.
If the Dinan Sport Tuner is giving these numbers for $300: Quote:
Seems like the best bang for the buck mod would be to do the Dinan Sport Tuner + FabSpeed Sport Cat DP to get similar HP. Am I missing something? |

I had a stock baseline run of 333 whp and 362 whp with the Dinan sport tuner on a DYNAPACK back in January. This type of dyno runs higher. Case in point, I had a stock baseline run of 325 on Fabspeed's Dynojet and 339 with the sport downpipe....We ran the sport tuner but the results are garbage because we didn't give the ECU time to adapt prior to strapping it down. Given the 29 whp gained on the DYNAPACK, we can "possibly assume" that with the sport DP and Dinan tuner would yield a total of 368 whp. But this is all speculation given the two different dyno machines. The boys on the M235i boards are consistently running ~400 whp with Dinan stage 4 with no other mods on a Dynojet. This is a good jumping off point of what to expect with our M2 given same N55. Add in the sport DP and a max whp number COULD be around 415. This is really some complicated shit we're dealing with here. Whenever Dinan ships my turbo (it's been almost 7 weeks since order was placed), and I get it installed along with the stage 4 box and intercooler, I'm heading back to Fabspeed in the hopes to gain at least 60 WHP (400 total with DP). It's a nice psychologically satisfying number. But in reality, I need to FEEL a substantial power gain, numbers aside. this setup ain't cheap. In summary, pay no attention to people's dyno graphs unless they provide a completely stock baseline run in conjunction with their stage 4 tune, or any other tune for that matter.

And bring your driving shoes. You should get a feel for it in comparison to your highly modded M235i.
