I had the same experience with them when the F82 was coming out. I will never try them again.

There is no reason at all to spend 10k over retail price of the car. Look somewhere else, wait until the hype dies down or get something else.

They told me the same thing when I inquired about an F80. I politely told them that I'd never buy anything from them. Ever.

Classic BMW is much more reasonable. Mauricio is a great guy to work with there but I don't think they've got any allocations until next year. At least they're dealing at MSRP.

To the OP, I agree with the suggestion of looking around. You can figure out how to get the car to your house - get the best deal first.

Does BMW North America even care if dealers are marking up 10K?

I mean seriously - If they are, I want everyone to start complaining to this dealership. I would love them to lose exclusivity and not get any M2's. But we don't live in a vacuum.

This is why I never buy from the local Dallas dealers. Greedy AF.

I even had Classic BMW tell me once that doing ED and PCD was an extra $1000 charge. I have zero trust in our local dealers. That's why I now go straight to David at Steve Thomas.

Germain BMW of Naples - $5K over list

After reading the $10K markup over MSRP that BMW of Dallas charges for an M2, the $5K over list my local dealer is quoting me doesn't seem as greedy. I'm still not going to pay it, but will instead wait until the feeding frenzy dies down.

Such BS...

Another reason to wait for a year or two, possibly with an F80 competition pack as a consolation prize...by then the M2 CS or CSL will surely be out.

I received a similar offer from Riverside...and now reconsidering BMW all together. Jag F-type looking better by the minute.

"Thank you for your quick response and yes we are still awaiting allocation for them and we putting clients names on them as soon as are available. just to give you a heads up our management team has them priced at $10k over sticker, so if you are ok with this i will look to put your name on a modifiable car when available."

Who is dumb enough to pay 10k over what it should cost? If I was these dealers I would be embarrassed to ask that.

Some dealers have a very, very high threshold for embarrassment.

If there are any dealers near Oakland, CA that can do msrp, please contact me! I'd be willing to jump on a short flight.

This - We need to tell BMW of North America that these salesman are turning people away from this car and BMW altogether. I also moved to Porsche because of the debacle in Texas. and I make sure BMW of North America knew about it. They emailed me back, responsed by twitter. I hope people were fired (i'm sorry but i do)

M3 or M4 can be had for $5k off MSRP all day long, if anyone spends $10k over MSRP for an M2 you are a fool; nicely equipped with DCT you'd be upper $60's. As much as I would love an M2, it's in no way an M4 for nearly identical price once the $10k ripoff is added and the $5k discount is subtracted.

It's also money you will NEVER see again. Yeah a car's a depreciating asset, but that $10k goes immediately to zero.

Dealer markup immediately puts you in the next tier of car. A mustang for 60 grand (GT350), a Focus for 45 (RS), an M2 for 60-65. Sure there are those buyers that absolutely have to have it but you can get so much more car in that next tier of price or just be patient for a few months on a different dealer with an MSRP deal but a longer wait time.

When I tried buying a GT350, I called no less than 300 dealers on the east coast and found 2 at MSRP which had sold through their allocations already. The fact that 2 out of 300 dealers were reasonable, made me swear off of Ford and it seems like there's nothing Ford wants to do about it. My co-worker's wife, who works at Ford Motor Company proper, would still have to go through a gouging dealer to get their GT350 and would be subject to all dealer terms. Asinine. The icing on the cake was the dealer who wanted 20 grand over MSRP. I laughed in his face on the phone. Just under 80 grand for what is, at the end of the day, a Mustang? I don't care if it's made of gold. No thanks.

I would love a list of all people that work in these dealer price gouping dealerships and just charge them market adjustment for everything in their lives.

Groceries.
Gas.
Cable.
EVERYTHING
