I was told by the dealer that I worked with in Devon of PA (largest bmw seller in pa), that you get more power after the break in service.

Sure, because you can exceed the soft 5.5k limit youre supposed to keep to prior to that. As far as them doing anything to enhance your power as a result of that break in service, that's been pretty well debunked.

Where are these 4,000 and 4,500 and 5,000 rpm numbers coming from?

Not trying to turn this into another break-in thread discussion but seriously, not the best thing you can be doing.

No power increase. No limiter is there before break-in.

Break-in is basically;
Engine fluid change, transmission fluid change, diff fluid change, and launch control gets enabled (if DCT).

No kidding - the owners manual says to keep the revs below 5500. I'm not sure where the other figures came from.

This is what was on my invoice (6MT, no launch control), also there's an item for resetting the service due message.
