Dirt Behind rear Tail Lights

So anyone pulled their back tail lights and has seen back there?
I imagine that it is a gap all the way to the underside of the car. Clearly it gets full of leaves and other tree "stuff". My car does not have a garage.
So my question is if you put a gasket in there will the water flow out the back along with the crap? How can you clean it otherwise?

Good to know I'm not the only one around here with taillight OCD.

I posted this in the care forum about a month back.

I'll likely pull the tails every 6 months or so to ensure it's clean back there.

Common problem. Like McGary911 said, it's a good idea to actually take the tail lights out and clean it once or twice a year. For the day to day stuff though just use a high powered vacuum with a lot of suction. Works like a charm.

Thanks Gary and Andrew. Thought I was going crazy!
So you could possibly put the power washer back there and blast the leaves down and under the car right? I gather that it is open all the way through to the bottom.

If you've ever owned a BMW before, this is nothing new, Every model I've ever had gets detritus back there. Just clean it out once a year and you'll be fine.

They are super easy to remove. When I cleaned behind my taillights it was by kinda by accident.
