Shout out to Techic PnP

I just bought and installed the Technic PnP ASD delete harness. I just wanted to thank them for making an easy plug and play solution to permanently remove the fake engine noise.

I can’t believe how much quieter the M2 is in Sport.

I went to their site to look for install instructions. Are they included?

No instructions were included. Just follow the instructions in this post: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showt...ght=ASD+delete

They have updated the cable so it now has the correct connectors so installation is easier than the thread states.

You've also altered the EQ curve and possibly volume level of your radio.

Actually it didn’t do either one. You can play the radio at a lower level now that the drone is gone.

You are welcome. Installation took a little over a half hour. You will love how your M2 sounds after the install.

If you don’t want to install it by yourself, take your BMW to a good stereo installer. In my area it would be Car Toys. They replace the amps all the time so they know how to access the amp and ASD amp.

Negative. No changes to music or call audio volume etc. Everything sounds good. We tested it quite a bit after install, had something sounded not right we would have removed it right then and there.

There are older version of this harness that weren't 100% plug and play. Maybe those had issues or maybe there were some defective one's sent out? All I know is that mine works fine.

No, you don't understand.

The ASD box is also performing EQ and tweaking the volume level of the sound that comes out of the radio, before passing it to the actual amp.

By bypassing it with a harness, you've altered the EQ in the car. This is why I don't like the idea of the harness, unless you're going to completely redo all of the audio (amp included).

Well at least two of us can’t tell any differences with the harness installed. Maybe our ears aren’t sensitive enough.

The LCI seems very different from the instructions. Instead of having to remove hooks and the lining you just lift out a cover that reveals everything under it.

However I can’t locate where the ASD harness plugs into. Can another LCI owner post a couple of pictures to show the location please? Thank you!

I had mine installed by my stereo guy because he was familiar with the amps layout. But I can tell you that you are in the wrong location. You are showing us pictures of the fuse box for the car. The amps are in the far left corner of the trunk with the ASD amp almost against the left fender.

The only tricky part was removing that back plastic part. What makes it hard is there’s nothing to grab to pull it straight up and the rubber seal is in the way. I should have taken a picture of what it looks like under the plastic so others can see what they’re trying to do. What I would tell them is
1- be sure to pull the pins all the way out - remove them.
2- start at the top edge of the plastic (left or right) and get fingers underneath while moving the rubber seal under it. Then do the same to the other side. Keep lifting up from both sides. It’s not connected but held on by pressure. There are two clamps of plastic if you will squeezed over a raised metal area of the lip. I also expanded the plastic gently at the top to open the clamps up more. Good luck!

Wow! I just did this and I can't put into words how much better things sound. Nice and quiet in the cabin and I don't have to listen to the radio all the way up.

To help my brothers and sisters out, I wanted to share my experience.
  1. I didn't remove the side panel completely. There is enough room to pull it out a bit and install the harness. I didn't remove the push rivet that's hidden by the rear seat.
  2. I didn't remove the weatherstrip.
  3. The back plate was the "hardest" part. I tucked the edge of the weatherstrip under the edge of the backplate. Once I got it out, I noticed that there are two posts that is holding it in. Below is a pic highlighting them.

Hope this helps. Great, inexpensive mod that makes a world of difference.

Has anyone noticed that you have to run the balance almost all the way to the ft to hear the front speakers?
