Rotor Rusted after car wash

Hey,

Could anyone suggest the best way to avoid the rotor rusted after the car wash? It's easy to ruin the clean wheel for the first drive after car wash.

Any suggestion or clean process to avoid?

After I wash and dry the car and get most of the water off the wheel I drive the car a few blocks down the road. When I come back home the rotors are nice and clean. after I'm done cleaning the interior....wipe and vacuum, I finish the car with detail spray and then do a final wipe down on the wheels for a fresh look.

This is normal. Don't worry about it. Will come right off after your first few brake engagements

Yeah I understood but I just don't want to see the rust over the clean wheel after first brake engagement since I just clean them all. So looking for some idea how to avoid....

Just had this happen today. Did a full detail pulling wheels off and stored for a week.

When I wash normally I take for a spin around the block which avoids this happening but this time with wheels off the timing wasn't right.

Needless to say first drive and my wheels turned orange

Bought this recommended product above to give it a try.

On top of free shipping the also offer 15% off on first order with WELCOME15 coupon.

Thanks for the recommendation, let's see how it works!

The trick I use is one that I learned from a high end detailer on youtube actually. As soon as you are done washing your car and its still wet, just before you dry it off go for a short drive 1/4 or so with your foot on the brakes while driving to get the rotors warm. In the past I would clean my car spotless and then move it a few feet and the rust would come off the rotors and coat my clean wheels with rust dust. Now that is not an issue at all. Simple to do, just have to be quick about it.

This is really annoying. I've had luck with blowing the wheels/disks dry first, but it takes extra time and don't tend to do that every time. I'm learning to live with it.

Curious about that RustStopper product someone mentioned earlier. Anyone try it yet?

I wash wheels last. Wash and dry car, take it for a quick spin then wash and dry (with blower) individually.

Use a leaf blower on my wheels - dries the rotors and removes most of the water (no water spots).

Not to mention you can also blow out the panel gaps, gas filler area, the mirrors, etc. The M2 mirrors hold about a gallon of water each. They will dribble water down your door for days if you dont get them blown out.

I figure I spend 3 to 5 minutes blowing off the car after a wash. Very little time and it really helps.

After washing the car & wheels I do a braketest or two from 15/20mph before putting it in my garage.

Cheers

No matter how much and from what angle I blow out the mirrors, they'll still drool for a few miles after I wash. It's maddening. I hit the drip spots with some detailer after that first drive and I'm good.

I never thought to blow out the wheels to get the rusty water out (the back of the wheel). I don't have a huge problem with the rusty water, maybe once every 4 washes, but I'm going to give it a shot, especially if I'm going to drive the car right away. It'll only take a few minutes.

You'll be amazed at how fast you can get the wheels dry. Just close your eyes when you hit those lug nut holes. It sprays the water back at you on occasion. I always start there with the lugs/center cap and work my way out doing, the tires last.

I just set the parking brake at the lowest notch and drive for 10 feet. No Rust.

Yeah, the rotors are clean, but that rust dust goes somewhere. A lot of that somewhere is the wheels. The rusty water is even worse.

The dust wasn't all that bad on my M3's CSL type wheels (silver), but the shiny black on the M2 wheels shows it a lot more. When I'm in a super anal mood I'll hit them with some detail spray after a short drive.

Yeah same issue here since day 1 but guys (and gals) you don't need to buy anything - just do this...

Works every time you just have to be quick!

My issue with rust on the brakes isn't so much on the face of the disc but on the outer edge of the disc and within the drilled-out holes. How can I get rid of that?
