Not a bad deal
Yeh, I am still waffling on weather to go M2 or M3. I thought I was sold on the M2, but after reworking hypothetical numbers on a lease for a M3 in a stripped configuration that I want, I am back to square one. Both will be used as DD with AX and track duty on the weekends. Loved the M3 at the BMW School and test drive on the M2 proved to be a hoot. I could go either way. F80 would include: - Silverstone (I wish this was available as a regular option for F87) - 18s (want more tire) - Carbon Cloth (love it with with the leather and the feel is great and wish it was a M2 option as well) - Shadow Trim - 6MT F87 would include: - MG - 6MT The lease numbers with the base MF from BMW come out to where I want them. I am putting down a heavy down payment because I intend to keep this through having a family, hence my willingness to do what is considered not the best option which is to buy out the lease. Residual on the M3 is 61% which is higher than the M2 (59% I think it was). This will probably work out as a lease on a M3 given the numbers. Anyone have any thoughts? Opinions or suggestions? Please don't flame spray about the lease buyout, but you never know what jackass is going to hit you in the next three years. I'd rather turn it in and take the hit than risk lousy body work and a serious depreciation. Thanks! Can't wait to return to BMW.

I never understand seriously cross-shopping the M2 and F80 M3/4. These really are very different cars in feel and focus. I think anyone who really wants an M2 would know it right away and anyone who's unsure probably prefers the F80.

I got 3250 off MSRP with 1%/60mo.
I got pictures of the contract and sticker in another thread about M2 price. |

I was speaking with a Cali dealer today about a non-M2 Swapalease deal, and when the conversation turned to M2 talk he mentioned that they're now asking $5000 over MSRP for the '18 LCI, up from $2500 late last year. That seems...off...to me this late in the game.

At least 4 M2s on my dealer's lot and they are only going corporate discount of $2k off and nothing given up by them. The only one of these cars that doesn't have the $5k performance pack is black which I don't want so I'm going to have to order anyway.
One of them is loaded to $69k sticker. The point though is there are cars on the lots, order slots available and a new M2 arriving middle part of this year. Prices should be coming down. |

That's actually the biggest reason I stopped getting manuals in 2012 but I do truly like BMW DCTs. With automated transmissions as good as they are, I doubt I will own a manual again. Just gotta drive in manual mode most of the time to keep the control.

I hate stop and go driving regardless of transmission.

I didn't know that much about the DCT until a coworker explained the technical part of it and I became intrigued with it. Edit: I'm having deja vu moment and think I've typed this before. |

https://www.tomhesserbmw.com/new/BMW...1504f1b3c9.htm EDIT: It must be a manual because their listing discount of $2630 corroborates with the $2630 below MSRP price I figured from bmwusa.com. Last edited by Anthony1s; 02-24-2018 at 12:02 PM.. |

I've gotten emails back from area dealers here in Seattle and looks like they're all sticking to MSRP minus any incentives or discounts you qualify for. Not even $1000 off for kicks. Disappointing.

But I love the rawness of the F87, and frankly, it's the "dumb" stuff that doesn't come on it that keeps me flip-flopping. Cloth seats and 18 inch wheels as options would seal the deal. I love the look, the feel, the finish, and frankly, I feel it is the best blend of tech with performance which the F80 does not have (it's practically a wild GT car). The M2 though, man, for the driving I love and the AX/back country roads we have here, it is the perfect formula. But I want f--king cloth and 18s! I like nimble, fast, raw cars. The M2 is it, but the F80 with those stupid options not available on the F87, for some reason just irks me. I know the F87 gets the E46 comparison, but just give us those two options that were available on the E46 to make more of a reality... Sh-t, the cloth interior, and this would have been locked up a long time ago. Oh and for the price, the F87 is it.
