I had them powder coated by a local firm, they are in fact gloss black but something like an 85% gloss. Its a really nice finish actually, its as much gloss as you can achieve via a powder coat that will work on a temperature sensitive area such as an exhaust tip.
But as you say, ever so slight satin look to them also.

I tried both in hand and I prefer this as it has a better profile, is almost twice as thick as the stock wheel at 3 & 9 o'clock. It is way nicer in my opinion (to hold/use). Some people doesn't like the look or want the extra gadgets of the one with the display though.

I think this is a bit easier to maintain too as it isn't all alcantara which demands a bit more maintenance and less hand lotion.

Haha I can always do that. The way it's setup it will work for the stock bumper and factory mounting holes with the lip and without it.
