New M2 Owner
Greetings from Chicagoland! About a month ago I purchased a 2016 LBB after browsing the forums for a bit. I was daily driving a 2012 Acura TSX and my summer/HPDE (Gingerman and Autobahn Country Club) car was FC Rx7 with a LS1/T56 swap. The m2 felt like a great meld of various things I liked in both cars. Comfortable interior and a short wheel base RWD car with lots of torque. The M2 feels as quick as my rx7 was. Unfortunately flip up headlights weren't an option with the m2.
The car came with some mods, which I'm sure I'll update/change over time. 2016 Long Beach Blue w/DCT Fabspeed catless downpipe (sport cat in garage to be installed) Fabspeed Muffler bypass M performance rear spoiler and diffuser Gloss black kidney grills, side grills, and trunk badge Painted front reflectors CF ebrake handle and alcantara boot, cf shift knob Xpel front half of car to fenders ~35% window tint https://www.instagram.com/p/Bix1sHUnsQ-/ Love the car so far and certainly not used to all the compliments it gets. P.s. wasn't sure where to post a new member thread so feel free to move. |

Congratulations. Looks very good.
You need to be careful with the Fabspeed gear. Some people have had their vins flagged for having them installed. Flagging voids the warranty on the drive train. |

I'm about to be a new M2 owner as well (first ever post)
Congrats!
I've been obsessively lurking here for months. Doesn't seem like a hospitable environment to be honest (with all the M2 vs M2C rhetoric/childish commentary) but it is a wealth of information and for that it is appreciated. I have been on the fence about getting into an LCI M2 vs waiting for the M2C. I am in no hurry, my car is paid off and very healthy and I can be patient... but I have sorely missed my 2007 MT RS4 since releasing her in 2011 and for some time now knew the next car was going to be some form of M2. DD and occasional track days. So today I went in to test drive the LCI M2 and talk business. I settled on the LCI and wouldn't you know it, one happened to be sitting in port the way I want it and the dealer discounts were reasonable. So I pulled the trigger after spending 4 hours at the dealership and putting a call into the wife for good measure. Why I went LCI over M2C: 1. The test drive was unbelievable. So much more of a "feeling" than the M240i they let me take out previously. 2. The feeling rivalled and likely exceeded the experience I had with my past RS4 3. The leasing rate was good (for business expense purposes in Canada lease and then buy at end of lease is the way to go to maximize income tax deductions) 4. Leasing rates unknown for M2C but likely not to be in the same ballpark 5. I am a large man and the LCI was very comfortable. M2C will have sport seats, of course I haven't sat in them but the M4 seats were less comfortable for me 6. I am a sound guy. I LOVED the sound of my NA RS4 (like a jet turbine an a seriously deep powerful growl) and while the LCI M2 doesn't compare, it still sounds very sweet... I wouldn't want any further compromise 7. Price is right with the discounts... all the bells/whistles I want, the nice sound system etc... "Base" M2C was $7k higher per the dealer today before options, so combined with likely higher lease rate, I think the LCI will be a steal for the marginal delta in performance compared to the M2C (if as expected) 8. LCI could be a very very special car down the road... as the M2 starts to "evolve" I will have one of the originals 9. While I said I can be patient, the timing is kind of cool.... getting married this summer, relocating, new house etc. Anyway happy to be part of the "club" in a new LCI scheduled for pick up June 23. So excited! I usually keep my cars for longer than 4 years, so this will bring me many years of bliss. Last decisions I have to make in the next week: 1. To tint or not to tint? (If anything, 50 or 35 for me - on the fence) 2. Paint protection (likely yes - dealer trying to sell me Xzilon) 3. Clearshield? I'll have to search on these forums for answers First world problems...

Do PPF, but don't do dealer PPF. Consider down pipe and or MPE for more sound.
