What Sway Bars Are Available For M2?
Hi I am looking to upgrade the suspension with KW V3 and also trying to find reputable brands for the sway bars.
Does anyone know what's available right now? |

Are you having a lot of body roll? Have you tested on the track as yet? I was thinking about getting coils but based on all the track reviews I didn't think sways would be needed. Let me know if this is another mod I need to add to the list.

You should just try it and maybe you'll have a different aspect with regards to the need for sway bars. |

Has anyone run their M2 on a track hard/fast with Michelin SC2s or similar. That will certainly tell you if you need to upgrade the sway bars and stock suspension?

You should try to tune with springs before you get bars. Use bars to balance the handling not use them as a main suspension tuning tool.

Has anyone changed sway bars on their M2's yet? I am curious to know the difference in handling / feel. The Dinan ones look the goods.

I've been on the track, car does not feel like it needs any upgraded swaybars. Car feels a lot lighter than it actually is and very balanced. Brake pads do need to be upgraded to track pads as the stock pads gets smoking hot very quickly.

OK thanks for the insight. I've ordered the H & R springs and 10MM spacers for all four wheels so this should improve a little over stock also.
I'm surprised and disappointed by what I'm hearing about the brakes (and there has been numerous reports on this) as I had the M Performance brakes (the upgraded version / red) on my M135i and they performed really well at the track, no fade at all - I would have thought the M2 would be better than those!

Interesting. You'd think a full blown M car would have those pads standard..!

Anyone changed rear swaybar?
I have a bit of steady-state understeer in my M2 after installing slightly wider P4S tires (268/285) on stock rims. Previously, it was slip and slide power-oversteer fun. But with the wider P4S's in the rear, the front tends to run at a much greater slip angle than the rear. And the power can be easily put down.
Picked up a Dinan rear bar that should allow a slight spring rate increase in the rear that should allow tuning this out (hopefully to full neutral where both front and rears slip at similar angles in steady-state). However... there's a local mechanic down the street from where I work, and he indicated the BMW manual calls for dropping the rear sub frame to install this(!). 8 hours. I figured it would be an easy job that wouldn't cost a lot to keep me off my garage floor. So... anyone have experience with replacing the rear sway? And does the sub frame really need to be unbolted/realigned?? |

Front sway bar OE part no for M2 is 31352284762 - same as non CP M4 vert
Rear sway bar OE part no for M2 is 33557853266 - same as non CP M4, M4 CS and M4 GTS Perhaps a logical upgrade could be to swap to OE front sway bar part no 31352284760 - from non CP M4, M4 CS and M4 GTS - to match the rear ???

Personally I'm not a fan of using sway bars to control body roll, as its just a cheap fix. Doing so compromises what the shock actually does.
