Yes, tried it today and seems to be a bit more lively! But overall the stock exhaust is quieter than I thought it would be, particularly on cold start up. I had the BMW performance exhaust on my n54 135i and boy that was loud in the morning.

This is brilliant! Trying it tomorrow...
I found something else that came after 8,5K km on my car... Drive in 4th or 6th gear between 3k and 3,5k RPM at highway speeds. Accelerate decently, then release the throttle and engage it again at around 3,1K RPM. The massive bang I get inside the exhaust is felt through the whole car and my passengers are saying the same thing. Only started at around 8,5K kms, I am now at 10,1K km. Another surprising thing is that I have now driven three M-DCT M2s and all sound different. Mine is by far the loudest and the two press cars I drove were a lot more silent. Especially the one I drove up the hill at Goodwood. No backfire or burbles at all! MR |

Maybe the press cars were new? My car seems to get louder the more miles on it. Day 1 was quiet but it is louder today and also seems to burble and rumble more when it is fully warmed up.

The one at Goodwood was just driven in, but still mine was louder after I had driven it in. Also the one at Goodwood was just hard and driven properly up the hill. Simply no burbles or crackles sound at all. I was a bit stunned. MR |

Try it today and W.T.F. it works... Amazing!
It is like an exhaust and traction button in one. MR |

Anyone can post a video of the "hidden" exhaust mode?

Here is an observation...
I find my exhaust burbles and pops more but is quieter than in Sport+. The exhaust tone, overall, is louder in Sport+ but burble and pops the most with the DSC button trick. Personally, I like the overall louder sound in Sport+ because it burbles and pops a decent amount too. Comfort + DSC trick is full of back pressure sound but not as pronounced on acceleration. I tried this in Sport+ and pressed DSC and the burble and pop got louder but the exhaust itself got a tad quieter. Plus you lose the better throttle response

I'm a little confused now. Since my vehicle's making its way across the Atlantic, I'm very curious. Does it sound the same with Comfort+DSC as Sport+ only, or Sport+ and DSC? Which is louder and produces more pop/burble? |

- Comfort and DSC = a little quieter on acceleration with more of pops/burbles on deceleration than Sport+ - Sport and DSC = same as "comfort and DSC" because pressing DSC seems to put the car back in comfort mode - Sport+ = louder during acceleration but with slightly less pops and burbles. Every time I press DSC (in any mode), the car removes the Sport or Sport+ mode. Effectively taking it back to comfort (I can feel this as the throttle gets less responsive too). However, it maintains the huge pops/burbles on deceleration. It is, however, a bit quieter on acceleration. Others may feel differently but my car is louder in Sport+ on everything except deceleration pops/burbles. If someone doesn't want to drive in comfort mode, this mod has limited benefit IMO.

I've been testing this out for about a week now, and it works 100%. Sport+ sounds better, but Comfort + MDM has much more crackle and pop to it. great daily driver mode before I get to a canyon and Sport+ comes on.

Found this in another thread and it confirms my post above. A single tap of the DSC button puts the car in MDM mode and puts everything else back to comfort... including the exhaust flap. This explains why the exhaust quiets down on acceleration (notwithstanding more burbles/pops on deceleration) with the single DSC press.
In any event, thought this might be relevant to repost here given the discussion

I believe you can configure the "drive" and the "chassis" for Sport mode in iDrive. You can either select Sport mode for both or only for one of the two. The chart shows what the car adjusts depending on how you have it configured.

"Chassis and suspension" really only means "steering" on the M2
