as far as staggered 18" rims - perhaps its a "one size fits all approach" by BMW for winter wheels for whole F8x range as both 640m and 19" 641m are quoted by Realoem for M2/M3&M4. According to Realoem - 235/40/18 F&R - suitable for snow chains whereas staggered tyre set 235/40/18 front with wide rear 255/35/18 - NOT suitable for snow chains. Your set is probably non-snow chain set up - TBH I'd be happy with wider rears and will probably switch to 255/35/18 in the future.....Out of interest what tyre pressures does the plate inside the door jamb quote for 255/35/18 winter tyres ? I ask as my UK car only quotes 18" tyre pressures 235/40/18 F&R. Cheers BP

Why not put the same size WHEEL on all four corners if you want to keep the contact patch the same? Why would you change the wheel size but keep the tire the same? or how about this If you want a square tire setup, put a squire rim/wheel setup on.... Bee Pee - I'll check tomorrow. But/and, I assume it is the exact same.

I am an IT nerd and tend to answer questions very literally (this one was “why put the same size tires on two different sized rims?”) - I was only trying to explain why you would (in the context given). Wasn’t trying to pick a fight either. |

Question for you guys, I just sold my winter beater and now am looking at getting winter wheels and tires.
Will be going with 245/40/18 as it appears most winter M2 setups are. I understand the basics, but the speedo should be fine at that size correct? It keeps the basic diameter of stock so I should be fine correct? |

I think i know the answer but....will M2 wheels with winter tires in sizes 235/40 18 fronts and 255/40 18 rears, work on an M4? I have a feeling the fronts might be a little narrow but its a smoking deal.
They are OEM wheels but I don't know the designation/model number. Even if the tires a little too narrow, it would be cheaper for me to pick up this set of wheels and replace the tires with the 255's all around as mentioned elsewhere in this thread. |

For what it's worth, on an 18x8 wheel [edit: with appropriate offset - mine are ET29 and running the same on all corners], you can go down to 225/45 for winter without any rubbing. I'm on 225/45 Michelin XIce3.

Winter rubber
Hey folks! Just picked up (yesterday) LCI BSM M2 with Pirelli Sottozero II tires on replika 437 wheels, same size (staggered 19") as original summer wheels/tires - wondering if I'll have difficulties maneuvering in the snow. Just about everyone on this forum seems to be going with a square 18" set up. Interestingly though Automotive mag fours seasons M2 had the 19" staggered set up and according to the article, it handled just fine. Any thoughts?

Hi guys! I'm new to this and just received confirmation my 2018 BMW M2 arrived. The dealership is willing to put on my winters for me, but wanted to confirm if 245/40r18 on 18x8 ET20 will fit square setup? Will these clear the callipers and not rub on the fenders? Will they stick out?All feedback appreciated as I'm trying to learn everything!
