AARP discount, does it work for "associates"?
Little-known fact - anybody can join AARP. You don't have to be 50+. You join at a different level and are considered an "Associate member," and I know you don't get all of their benefits like the cheaper insurance plans / etc.
If all BMW cares about for the AARP fleet discount is a member number though... you still get a member number as an associate. I have no military ties so I can't go through the USAA benefit, but an AARP membership is like $15/yr. :P For $2500 off that seems well worth it! Has anybody else gone through this? I searched around a bit and I know that the program is a real thing, I'm just not sure if an under-50 person can still get the same fleet discount or if you have to be a "Full" AARP member to qualify for that.

I am in the process now. It seems that associate members were getting the discount just fine. Last I heard is that BMW said you had to be a member since the end of February and then I most recently heard they just killed the program ahead of the planned May 31st deadline. I haven't confirmed the last two items yet but I am not holding my breath on getting the discount.

I think not because AARP is part of fleet discount program which cannot be used for ED. I asked about it but didn't try.
Edit: Found the link: http://specialadvertising.aarp.org/2...O-LOGIN-ewhere The fine print disclaimer says: "...The Corporate Fleet incentive cannot be used in conjunction with (CCA) Car Club of America Program, College Program, Group Partner & Family Program, European Delivery Program, Diplomatic and Embassy Program, Military Sales Program (USAA), Limousine & Hotel Shuttle Program and / or VIP Purchase Program..." Yeah, it's a fleet program so can't use it with ED or USAA or BMW CCA discount.
They are projecting that my car would be Spring 2018 anyway so if it does go away after May of this year, oh well. (I am "in line" at a local dealer and I don't mind waiting since I'd prefer an LCI / 2018, assuming it actually receives one.)
