Yep, the engineers gave up. They couldn't improve anything.

The engineers are so pissed off with all our criticisms of what they consider to be a perfect car that they've gone into a sulk.

They cancelled it because they couldn't work out how to give it proper M mirrors.

Yes, BMW wanted all the M2 holdouts to still have an excuse to wait for something.

Unfortunately yes, the LCI has been cancelled due to lack of interest, and poor performance figures.

Time to get a 991.2 GT3 instead!

I heard they're also cancelling F10 M5 production for the same reasons. RIP.

Do you have any reason to wonder this? Or are you just thinking they should have announced it by now?

There are only a few weeks left until the official PR for MY2018. Let's just wait.

According to that pic there will be no 2018 F80 M3 either which I find hard to believe as the M4 is listed. We have no idea what's on the rest of that list above or below what we can see. We'll get the official word from BMW within the next 4-6 weeks.

I thought the better question was whether or not the base M2 would no longer continue?

For the record:
  • in post #436 of April 9 in the "Let's discuss the M2 CS rumor" thread, I quoted - as I usually do - all sources where I had collected the information; hence, the credit for the info and screenshot doesn't belong to me, but belongs to forum members of the M2 section of the German forum 2erTalk (see the hyperlinks in my original post);
  • Bimmerpost singled out the post and created a dedicated thread: "BMW M2 CS and M2 GTS: Production / order dates, engine specs, and more info" (see here);
  • subsequently the gathered information started surfacing on several automotive websites.

Dude, it's the same question. M2 "base" = LCI for 2-series LCI MY18.

Does anyone know if they plan to skip the 2018 LCI and go straight to the 2019 M2 CS in March 2018?

Hell, it's possible. Although it's not a cancel if they never said it would be produced.
