Before I go buy a 240i...

I've been wanting the M2 for ~a year now, but I own my own business and leasing is generally a better option as I understand it. The M2 has horrendous leasing, so the difference between my lease on a m240 vs an M2 (if I can even FIND an m2) is +$350/month.

So as much as an M2 would be awesome... I just can't justify that.

But - for people who own their own business and dealt with this, did you find a reasonable way to pull off getting the M2?

Talk to your accountant, as sometimes depending on business use mileage, you may get more of a deduction from mileage rather than lease cost (you're only allowed to deduct one or the other). If it's close based on projections, lease vs buy for that reason becomes moot.

Unfortunately I only drive ~2.5k miles a year.. so I doubt that would work.

Yeah, leasing the M2 at the current terms simply does not make a lot of sense. Of course, they can get away with that and still have super strong demand because it is a great car! Hard to make that work with financing and mileage at the number of miles you are talking about.

If you are writing it off (the lease costs), then the crappy lease terms might work out for you - as long as you buy it out at the end and sell it. You are paying way too much in lease payments, but are essentially going to have a car that is a really good deal to buy out (the way values are currently holding). If you would not want to buy it out, yeah, not a good approach for a walk away lease.

M240i is also a pretty awesome car, and makes much more sense to lease on the available terms. You will be happy. Maybe a little voice in the back of your head every time you get in it. But if you can get past that you will be happy.

I was in the same boat as you and chose to get the M240i. In your mind, you will always think that you would have preferred the M2 but all the issues add up which made the M240 the no brainer choice.
