I just don't understand why someone with 5 Porsches in the garage is so miserable all the time.

Now, at last, I understand the "other post."

Oh, and OP, nice write up! I am planning on the same upgrade. I look forward to more updates on your day to day impressions!

Thank you Auf for your review, it is very helpful for those of us contemplating a Dinan P2 upgrade...at this point I will probably do the P1 first and as my piggy bank recovers go for the full P2.

This won't transform your car into an M6 or tuned F8x for that matter. You could go Pure S2, etc and get 500 WHP. That isn't the goal with stage 4.

It does (according to the few who have driven both) get you to stock M3/4 numbers which by most accounts, is quite fast.
Makes sense. The actual difference between my discounted Euro Delivery 16 M3 and MSRP 17 M2 was only 5k (both purchased new). With a 6K Dinan package my M2 would have actually cost more than my M3. I have to say at the same price (even with 425 hp on the M2) it's kind of nuts to choose the F87 over F80. It was a hard enough pill to swallow for me with a 5K difference.

I'd make that choice in a heartbeat. But we've been over this before.

littleoldman Not trying to be rude etc.

But as the French say: 'C'est le ton qui fait la musique', meaning it's not so much about whát you say but HOW you say it....

On a forum things can escalate very quickly, and I am by no means a saint myself, just my 2 cents...

Cheers

Considering what people are paying for exhaust systems, etc. An extra 100hp for that price sounds very good. Any plans to get on a dyno? If so, please share the graph.

Plans are definitely in the works....

yep, Akrapovic charges over $6k for their titanium exhaust system yielding minimal, if any gains.

Nope the 5K didn't make a difference but I didn't want a M3 AND a M4 in the garage and I figured the M2 may have slightly better resale due to smaller production numbers.

I'm on the list for a M2 CS though.

Congrats! Really nice to see it's worth the wait and money. You definately need dyno numbers to complete the party

You made me kind of regrat that I ordered and installed everything except for turbo. The lack in power at top end is killing me over these days...

If you're not on the mobile site, look under their name, left hand side of the screen...it'll say it there.

Random question, how intensive is the DMEs monitoring of inlet air temperatures? If you were to, say, only install the dual core intercooler, do you figure you'd see some gains particularly on hot days? Or rather simply less on-the-fly detuning?

Out of all the upgrades in Dinan's kit, the intercooler is pretty compelling.

I was just going to ask how do you mute someone's posts?

Anyway, on topic question: is it $6k out the door labor and materials? If so, that's a hell of a deal, and I'd probably do it save for the fact that I "think" I'd be content with the car stock other than some aesthetics including suspension.

I'm able to use the last couple 1000 rpm as it pulls to beyond the 7000 redline all the way to 7200 fuel cutoff. I now know what the E9x guys are talking about as it pertains to winding out the engine except in this case, we also have the low end torque associated with FI...best of both worlds.

Keep an eye out for incoming email with dyno attachment in the coming weeks.

BruceM I'm noticing as the miles are accumulating that the ECU seems to be adapting, whereby more power is being delivered according to my butt dyno. Have you noticed this? Dinan_Engineering could chime in here as well.

How long have you had your M2 before the modification.
What were you driving before?
Did you have a dyno done?
You say you felt heat soak at 60 degrees. I find that hard to believe.
You don't say what was done except that it cost $6k.

Sort of a meh review
You should update your user name to grumpylittleoldman, as every post is negative. At least the ones I have read.

Since you have not been following along...Why don't you take a second and search his post history and you will find answers to most of your questions.

I've been slammed work-wise, and my car's been laid up as well (though not because of the Dinan kit). Both impediments should be removed here in the next week or so, and I'll be back at it.

I do remember talking to Dinan about ECU learning after the kit was installed, and my recollection is that it is real, but it is also happens pretty quickly, so I'm not sure how long it would take to get to full performance...
