Forge intercooler just arrived

New forge intercooler just arrived and the quality is amazing. Can't wait to get it fitted and do some logging.

It's Bar and Plate and will not foul the radiator.

Here are the dimensions. The only one not in the photo is the total length which was 665mm. Last image is measured centre to centre of intake and outlet.

Depends on what you mean by good and what your mods are.

This intercooler is meant for cars lightly modded (stage 1 tune), anything above that and it will suffer.

Pro of bar and plate: does a better job at keeping IAT low
Cons: heavy , does not recover as fast as tube and fin

If you track the car often, tube and fin is the way to go
If this is a street use car, bar and plate is better choice since it costs less

Thanks for the info.

I'm running around 400 bhp 430ft/lbs torque, was getting crazy heat issues on the dyno (I know it's not the same in real world driving) with the stock intercooler, 80 deg C was the highest on 3rd pull.

I've also got the pure turbo inlet pipe and fabspeed 200cell dp, both waiting to be installed at the end of this month and after stock run on dyno.

Looking forward to getting this intercooler on.

I think you should have went with a bigger intercooler

Don't say that! I had to wait 6 weeks for this one

I live in the UK so with the constant cold weather I can probably get away with the smaller one, hopefully!

Bring tears to my eye hearing N55 is sucking 80 Deg C air. I asked this once in other thread but no one seems to know enough about your STEINBAUER piggybox. It says it does NOT make boost at all but instead simply play with fuelling and give M2 N55 400 HP. If truth is anything like they said, without boost and with optimal fuelling, you should see lower IAT than stock car if anything.

Quote:
The desired performance enhancement is achieved by changing the injection duration, the same way the system was originally designed to operate. This also allows precise fuel control throughout the full rpm range of the engine. Injection duration is achieved by adding pulse width to a signal, (i.e. at end of injection). This is not changing timing—that’s best left to the factory ECU. Our module also does not interfere with common rail pressure- making our module the best choice for your engine.

So what is the benefit of all this Intelligent Technology for your vehicle? Our module gives an additonal 20% increase in power and torque, giving you greater towing power and making overtaking effortless and safer.

Simply smarter. Simply safer. Simply STEINBAUER.

Yeah I hear what you are saying. I'm sure it has to modify the signals to the ECU telling it it's not at the correct boost level, hence the car is constantly trying to achieve the set target. What it may also do is adjust fueling and monitor other sensors to achieve the extra bhp. I'm going to get the car in and run it stock at the end of this month, then we will see how hot it gets on stock setup on that specific dyno, just incase the cooling is poor in that place. When it was dynoed the bonnet was lined cold so this would not have helped with cooling, especially after 3 runs. The intercooler is going to make a difference, sock or tuned though.

Forge Motorsport built one of the best direct bolt-on FMIC for the 1M and I am sure this one will fit and perform just as well.

Yeah, the one I had on my 1m was top notch, I also had a forge stepped intercooler on my mini gp2 and found almost no lag and struggled to get the Temps up when on the track
