Is it possible to make one with open slats or honeycomb? Meaning, actually have air pass-thru?

The bumper is solid behind the reflector, so that's not possible.

pretty easy job. although shooting the video was tough trying to get good angles and lighting into the bumper cover. I'll edit and have the video ready before the weekend
edit: after starting at it for a while, it seems the slatted version accentuates the width of the car like an optical illusion. like how wearing horizontal stripes makes the person look wider. |

i received and installed mine (slat style) yesterday. took about 40 min. in my opinion the car should come with that equipped rather than the reflector. i think the m2 looks more "oem" with them on.
the installation process is fairly straightforward. you kind of have to pry the upper part of the bumper cover out to get access to the back of the reflectors. pushing the bumper cover back in place can be a pain. i had to cut out a small piece of the bumper cover (tab, you'll understand when you see it, and sorry no pictures) to make it align properly. another tip. to get the reflectors to pop out, start from the one on top, i used avvise grip to keep the pressure on the tab (three on the back of each reflector) and wiggle it a bit, then moved on the the middle one. in the meantime, i used my finger to pry the reflector from the outside to get it come lose. hope these notes help. |

Here's the guide to open up the rear bumper:
Remove the screws first and there's one TORX bolt hiding in there as well : "8mm for all screws, 15 torx for the one screw that connects the bumper to rear fender" After that, just pull the bumper outward gently. You can do it without removing the wheel, but it is easier if you jack the car up on the side that you are working on. The hard part is the 3 three clips in the back, I find it easier to press the clips with fingers... because you have to press and push outward at the same time. i didn't have to cut any tabs. you just have to be patient and push and pry in the right places. my video will show how to do it. if you can't wait for the finished version, PM me for the low-res, no-audio video.
here are some day-time pics! |

Without a tunnel or a tube that is sealed, the air from the wheel well will be pulled into the general open interior bumper area (behind the fender liner) and will add drag like a parachute. |

I've been on the fence between the honeycomb and slat style since this thread began, they are both works of art!! Would really appreciate any photos with the slats on LBB which should be in some members hands by now...think I'm leaning on the slat style...or maybe honeycomb...no definitely slat,
